Artificial Insemination Practice, Biology Education UNIPMA Collaborates with Practitioners from BBIB Singosari Malang

Project-based learning is currently very relevant to improve student competence. Innovation in lectures is expected to bring a new atmosphere and increase the productivity of student lecturers. To realize active and project-based lectures, the Biology Education study program collaborates with practitioners from the Singosari Malang Center for Artificial Insemination (BBIB). This activity aims to increase student knowledge to implement theory into practice contextually. This activity was funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture through a grant from the Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM).

This teaching practitioner activity was carried out in animal embryology courses taught by Dr. drh Cicilia Novi Primiani, M.Pd. The learning of this course presents practitioners from Dr.drh. Andi Widodo Wijanarko, M.Sc. which conveys material about artificial insemination. This activity was carried out on 18-19 November 2022 at the UNIPMA integrated laboratory.
"Through this activity, we from BBIB can disseminate our scientific fields to students, so that students are familiar with the term artificial insemination and how to implement it in livestock," said Dr. Andi Widodo the speaker. In addition to theoretical presentations, students are also allowed to simulate artificial insemination activities using equipment from BBIB. Students are very enthusiastic in discussions and lecture activities with practitioners.

"At first I couldn't imagine what artificial insemination was, but after this teaching practice, I gained invaluable knowledge and experience," said Duvdinding, a Biology Education student. This activity is the initial initiation in building a partnership with BBIB. It is hoped that this activity will continue towards internships and research with BBIB Singosari Malang.
