The Future of Teachers, Education Personnel and Prospective Teachers

National Teacher's Day, which is celebrated every November 25, is a form of government appreciation for teachers and education staff. Hopefully, this commemoration is not just a ceremony, but as an annual effort to reflect on Indonesian education. Of course, this is related to the conditions at the forefront of Indonesian education (teachers, schools and their students).

Of course, the challenges faced by each generation are different, that's what requires all existing components to be adaptive in various occasions. We try to describe a number of notes relating to the future of teachers, education staff and prospective teachers in the 2022 period.

High appreciation for the performance of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Higher Education for all efforts to improve the quality and quality of education in Indonesia. The tangled threads of honorary teachers are slowly starting to be unraveled with the existence of P3K (Government Employees with Work Agreements) for teachers in 2021. Several notes on the implementation of P3K in 2021 relate to technical competency tests, because this is what has resulted in many teachers having long-standing dedication can't escape. Meanwhile, it relates to 15 percent affirmation for participants who are over 35 years of age regardless of how long they have served.

These notes are actually the record why of the 326,476 formation of first aid applicants in 2021, only 100,000 honorary teachers passed the selection, and some of those who did pass the selection have not received placements.

Even though there are still many criticisms related to the implementation of this program, this is a concrete step regarding the government's alignment with teachers. First aid selection will continue in 2022 by giving priority to teachers who pass the passing grade in 2021 (P1) and continue with the next priority. It is also felt that the 2022 P3K process will give more respect to the dedication of teachers in primary schools. Because in the previous year many teachers in main schools who did not pass the selection had to give up their classes to be taught by a new P3K teacher.

In addition to the Teacher P3K process in an effort to increase professionalism, the implementation of PPG In Position (Daljab) is also carried out with a selection mechanism that is indeed adapted to field conditions. Teachers participating in PPG in office do not have to leave the main school where they teach because the stages of implementation can be carried out online. Apart from this, implementing PPG Daljab in an online scheme forces teachers to adapt to ICT. This is positive for the professional development of teachers without having to leave their main duties.

One thing that must also be done by fellow teachers is to continue teaching in class according to its function and to keep abreast of curriculum and information technology developments. Duties and functions as a bridge of knowledge for students also continue to run. Maximizing every potential that exists and taking the time to carry out self-development in order to increase teacher professionalism.

There has been serious attention to teachers, but it should be noted that there are elements of education staff who have made a significant contribution to the implementation of learning in schools. We give an example for Elementary Schools (SD) that at least have educational staff for Administration (Persuratan) who are also Dapodik admins and Librarians. Many of these friends are still waiting for concrete steps regarding their future. If the City/Regency government has sufficient budget they can be covered by revenue from the APBD budget, of course we know the other conditions. We can see almost the majority of them with lower status and see how the conditions at the forefront of education in Indonesia are.

These educational staff are waiting with great hope regarding their future as educational staff. Many of them are to be able to hold ASN status with the hope that soon there will be a meeting point between the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform regarding their fate.

Their existence helps the principal in carrying out his duties and functions and assists teachers in the achievement or implementation of teaching and learning activities in schools.

It is our great hope that associating with educational staff at the commemoration of National Teacher's Day, they will receive beautiful gifts relating to their future. Whatever scheme is present, hopefully there will be compassion taken from the 2021 teacher P3K scheme, namely an award for the dedication that has been given to these education staff who have so far helped organize a good education in every educational unit.

Positive efforts related to teacher development mechanisms have not extended to LPTK graduates. We are sure that the ministry has valid data on the number of FKIP and LPTK graduates whose graduate profiles have become teachers. This needs serious attention because in 2021-2022 there will be no teacher recruitment stages for fresh graduates. The first aid stage for teachers can only be attended by teachers who are already registered at Dapodik and Simpatika, not with bachelors of education who have just graduated from their respective tertiary institutions.

True, the ministry's effort is to launch the Pre-service PPG program, with one of the benefits being that graduates will have the certainty of being recruited as teachers. However, these numbers are not comparable. The number of graduates each year is compared to the number of Pre-service PPG students, which is only a small percentage.

Just to recall history, that the education departments at LPTK and FKIP began to be excellent starting in 2006, before that not many young people were interested in becoming teachers. Surely this is positive news for the future of education in Indonesia. However, observing national policies related to teacher recruitment patterns is not unlikely to have an impact on the interest of the younger generation to take FKIP majors to decrease.

Today's generation is not interested in teacher employment status but in small salaries. So there will be many LPTK and FKIP graduates who will not become teachers, this will also set a bad precedent for the LPTK and FKIP because the resulting graduate profiles are expected to work in the education sector (teachers and education staff).

On the commemoration of National Teacher's Day in 2022, a clear blueprint is also needed in order to guarantee the fate of graduates of education degrees. Pre-service PPG 2021 with guaranteed placement for graduates needs to be appreciated and the number of participants increased in the future. Because the ASN First Aid teacher recruitment pattern requires entering Dapodik data, this makes room for fresh graduates to be closed. The ASN CPNS pattern for fresh graduates should be tried while still prioritizing an analysis of appropriate teacher needs. Of course, getting new teachers from fresh graduates from the education unit will get new ammunition that can bridge prolonged regeneration.

Of course, the presence of fresh graduates as teachers in education units will give a different color to Indonesian education.

Happy National Teacher's Day, all my teachers and ladies and gentlemen teachers and educational staff who are active today in all education units in Indonesia. Teachers are patriots of the nation, we are all able to have careers until today because of the services of the teachers. Best wishes for Teachers and Education Personnel in Indonesia. Long Live Indonesian Teachers, Long Live PGRI, Long live Indonesian Education!
