Prepare Internship Students for School, UNIPMA Biology Education Study Program Holds LSLC and STEM Workshops

The Biology Education Study Program at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) held a learning innovation workshop through the application of lesson study for learning community (LSLC) and (science, technology, engineering and math) STEM. The workshop activity is an agenda of the Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM) Biology Education Study Program which is entering its second year in 2022.

The person in charge of the activity, Dr. Marheny Lukitasari, M.Pd. said that this activity was attended by 5th and 7th semesters of UNIPMA students. "So this workshop aims to prepare students when they go to school in order to take part in PLP or internships at school as well as the implementation of Merdeka Learning Merdeka Campus (MBKM,)" said Heny, his nickname.

The activity was carried out in several sessions. The first session was delivering material by the resource person, namely Fuad Jaya Miharja, M.Pd. from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang who is an expert in the field of LSLC and STEM.

The activity began with the delivery of material about LSLC and STEM, then continued with Minds on and Hands on about STEM, especially in the fields of Biology and Biology Education. Minds on is the delivery of STEM-based ideas based on problems in the closest scope, especially in Madiun.

"Well, the problem will be solved later by using ideas based on group discussion and communication," he added.

Then the next activity is Hands on with the Pill Coating model as an example of its application. In groups, students discuss and test the formula according to the model. This Hands on Pill coating model can make ideas so that student groups are able to arrange other ideas according to the existing problems.

It is hoped that with this workshop, students will become agents of change when they enter school. So that it can be applied in classes at all levels of education. "So later students will recognize and have a divergent mindset to find solutions to problems that are around them," explained Heny.
