UNIPMA Lecturer Optimizes the Yard of the Pkk Households in Teguhan Village as a Food and Nutrition Barn

The UNIPMA community service team led by Mrs. Tiara Intan Cahyaningtyas, M.Pd who is a UNIPMA PGSD lecturer in collaboration with PKK women in Teguhan Village, carried out activities to utilize the yard of one of the residents in Teguhan village.

The service activity begins with coordination with the PKK management to discuss activities and agreements between the campus and the village, which are represented here by the PKK management in Teguhan Village. The second stage is socialization and discussion with the community about the use and management of home yard land through counseling and offering to the community who are willing to be used as pilot sites for this activity.

Tiara Intan Cahyaningtyas, M.Pd. said the counseling was carried out at the local village hall by gathering PKK members to get an explanation about the use and management of home yard land.

"After the survey, we conducted a survey of the residents' yards which had been agreed as a place to use the residents' yards," said Tiara Intan. The third stage is implementation in the field in the form of training with practice or demonstration of yard management on the residents' yards which are used as pilots.

Tiara Intan added that the training was carried out by means of demonstrations and exercises on the use and management of yards and yards. At this stage, it begins with the practice of planting together with PKK mothers in polybag media which will be placed in the yards of the target residents of the Abdimas. The next stage is the construction of tilapia fish ponds as a complement to the food and nutrition barns for residents.

“Then when the pond is ready, the UNIPMA service team provides a touch of fish and plant cultivation technology called the fertiminaponic system. During the construction of the food barn, residents were enthusiastic to see and help build a pond in the service area," said Tiara Intan.

Interestingly, the community service team was also assisted by residents to continue making fertiminaponics by giving zeolite stones as a filter for fish waste that rises to plants.

This activity was continued by planting vegetable seeds in a fertiminaponic system pond and polybag media that had been prepared by PKK women beforehand. For plants grown in polybag media, labeling of plant names is given so that it is easy to identify the types of plants in this park.

This community service activity lasted for approximately 4 months. During the activity, the UNIPMA community service team always carried out monitoring to see the progress of the development of plants and fish in the community's food barns. Monitoring and evaluation is carried out to determine the success of the community in the practice of using yard land to produce harvests that can be enjoyed by land owners and local residents who are involved in this activity.

When interviewed, the land owner, Mrs. Tati, said that this community service activity greatly helped the availability of food, especially vegetables, spices and fish for her family. Mrs. Tati can save more in shopping for vegetables, spices and fish because her land already produces them. "Moreover, at this time the price of food needs is quite high in the market so that this activity is very beneficial." he said.

The abundant harvest is not only enjoyed by land owners but also distributed around the residents' homes so that the benefits of this activity can be extended to a wider scope. In addition, the activities carried out also inspire local residents to do the same in utilizing their respective yards.
