Preserving Batik, UNIPMA PHP2D TEAM Holds Batik Training for PKK and Karangtaruna in Garon Magetan Village

Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Batik is one of the cultural heritages of the archipelago which is very rich in philosophical meaning. Wearing batik for some young people is still considered old-fashioned, the use of batik is also just to carry out recommendations from schools and universities on certain days and not as a form of need.

Batik is also a form of culture that cannot be separated from inheritance efforts, both in terms of batik skills and the socio-cultural values contained in it. In line with this, the UNIPMA PHP2D Program Team (Holistic Program for Village Development and Empowerment) held Coaching and Empowerment by providing training in batik from writing, splashing and coloring techniques to PKK and Karangtaruna in Garon Magetan Village.

The head of the PHP2D TEAM, Dhea Septya Sahnanda, explained that this activity had been socialized on August 7, 2021 and training activities had been carried out for 3 times. These include Training 1 on September 4, 2021, Training 2 on September 11, 2021, and Training 3 on September 18, 2021. "Currently, production has started, although it is still small," he said.

The new group formed in this village is a marketing group consisting of 5 groups who will later be tasked with marketing batik on social media. The marketing training was held on October 2, 2021. "Currently the batik garon which is named "gamurya" (Garon Muda Berkarya) also has a personal web shop, shoppe, pedia shop, and wa business," he added.

For the next activity on October 9, 2021, namely the finished batik packaging activity. Held training on how to pack neatly and well so that consumers can be satisfied.

The PHP2D team departed from HIMAPAUD from semester 5 and 7 with 15 students accompanied by lecturer Sofia Nur Afifah, M.Pd.
