LECTURER AT IKIP PGRI MADIUN WON FULLBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP FROM UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 

Teaching and learning abroad was everyone’s dream, students or lecturers, for the sake of improving or strengthening his education or professionalism. One of English Department lecturers of IKIP PGRI MADIUN, Agita Risma Nurhikmawati, S. Hum., MA, obtained a scholarship to attend short courses offered by Fulbright, USA through the FLTA (Foreign Language Teaching Assistant).

FLTA was offered to English language teachers who were Indonesian and  passed  his Bachelor degree. Besides those requirements, they must have ITP TOEFL certificate with a minimum score of 550. The duties after being announced qualified for FLTA program was to teach Indonesian in universities in America, such as Columbia University, New York University, and others. Those who became the students in this program were usually students who had historical ties with Indonesia, students whose parents were Indonesian, but he was born in the United States, students who attended the UN program and would be placed in Indonesia, students who were interested in history, socio-cultural of Indonesia and students who wanted to learn a completely new language. Besides teaching, learning opportunities were given by taking two courses per semester to improve the understanding of education and American culture.

According Agita Risma N, S.Hum., M. A., this program was very useful, "This program is very beneficial.. We can promote our language and culture internationally. In addition, we can learn positive things about the education system abroad that could be applied in Indonesia. " Regarding the cost issue, Agita said, "Do not be afraid to try, the costs was guaranteed by the organizers". Furthermore, she gave some messages that were devoted to IKIP PGRI MADIUN students, "For all students of IKIP PGRI MADIUN, please do dream big. Do not be afraid to make it true.
