Commemorating HARDIKNAS by Encouraging the Spirit of Freedom to Study in Higher Education

Sunday, May 2, 2021. Every May 2 we are celebrated National Education Day. National Education Day is an important moment so that all of us can appreciate every struggle that has been made by various parties, including lecturers, students, teachers, and students to be able to continue to develop education in Indonesia even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic like today. To commemorate National Education Day (HARDIKNAS) in 2021, Universitas PGRI Madiun does not hold a flag ceremony like last year.

In accordance with the theme of National Education Day in 2021, namely "Move Simultaneously, Realizing Freedom of Learning", through the Merdeka Learning program from the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud RI), UNIPMA commemorates HARDIKNAS by trying to encourage student enthusiasm in supporting the success of the independent learning program. In Higher Education, Merdeka Belajar is intended to provide freedom for students to choose fields according to their needs. Thus, it is hoped that a learning culture will be created that is innovative, non-restrictive, and in accordance with the needs of students. Students are given a maximum opportunity of 40 credits to study and practice outside the campus, plus 20 credits outside the study program. Of course this is an effort to make the campus curriculum closer and in accordance with user standards and needs.

This means that students are not only superior academically but can also be skilled in terms of what the market needs. With this the scope of off-campus learning can be recognized as a learning activity and student freedom in choosing the desired field of activity. This way of learning through the PJJ (Distance Learning) system technology makes students no longer limited by space and time in learning. Students can study anytime anywhere and under any circumstances. Even with smartphones and networks, students can access the study materials that have been prepared.
