UNIPMA Held a Workshop on Making Purpose Statements to Provide Doctoral Lecturers in the US

The education system abroad is very different from Indonesia, especially the conditions needed to get into tertiary education. One of the main requirements for applying to tertiary institutions abroad, especially in the United States (US) is the Statement of Purpose. Of course it is not easy to be able to make a Statement of Purpose, for that Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) held a workshop on making a Purpose Statement to equip lecturers and employees who wish to continue their Doctorate Education abroad.

The event was held at the UNIPMA Language Laboratory, campus 1, 3rd floor, on Tuesday (03/09/2019). UNIPMA also took the responsibility to invite speakers from Education USA, the US Department of State network unit that provided information on higher education in the US, Muhammad Zaki Zukarnain. Lecturers, staff, as well as UNIPMA alumni who were present could better understand the making of the Purpose Statement.

"There are 5 important keys in making the Purpose Statement, among which must be the interest of the reader, inform the reader, entertain the reader, and impress the reader, besides that the Purpose Statement must also be original based on personal thoughts, not the thoughts of others", explained Muhammad Zaki Zukarnain .

In addition to making the Purpose Statement, this workshop also provided various information related to S3 scholarships in the US. After giving the material, the workshop participants are also trained to directly make a Purpose Statement which then if there are questions or difficulties can be discussed together.
