The peak night of Ocean Fest Vol-2 2024, held by the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Seni Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA), took place grandly on Tuesday, 13/11/2024, yesterday, at Graha Cendekia UNIPMA. With the theme ‘Cultural Melodies: Harmony in Diversity’, this event presented a stunning art performance, while emphasising the beauty of Indonesia's cultural diversity.
The event, which was designed to explore the artistic potential of students, was attended by a number of important figures. Among those present were Dr Elva Nuraini, S.E., M.Si (UNIPMA's Vice Chancellor for Division I), Mr Arri Kurniawan, S.S., M.Pd (Head of UNIPMA's BKM), Ms Sesaria Prima Yudhaningtyas, S.Pd., M.Pd., (Supervisor of UNIPMA's UKM Seni) and Ahmad Nur Aziz, S.Pd., M.Ak. (Advisor of UNIPMA Art UKM)
The peak night of Ocean Fest Vol-2 2024 presented six types of art performances, namely traditional dance, modern dance, music, reog, dongkrek, and karawitan. Each performance was greeted with boisterous applause from the audience who packed the Graha Cendekia. The atmosphere that night was lively, reflecting the high enthusiasm for arts and culture.
The chief executive of the event, Ava Emalia Selviana Putri, explained that this year's theme was taken to highlight the beauty of the existing cultural diversity.
‘We want to show that different cultures can form a harmonious whole, like a melody consisting of various notes,’ Ava said on Saturday, 16/11/2024.
In addition to the summit night, the Ocean Fest Vol-2 2024 event series also included various competitions held earlier, such as the East Java langgam campursari competition, the national traditional dance competition, and the East Java acoustic band competition.
These competitions served as a platform to showcase the talents of students and participants from various regions.
Ava hopes that Ocean Fest Vol-2 can become a bigger and more beneficial annual event in the future. ‘Through this activity, we want to motivate the younger generation to continue working and contributing to preserving arts and culture,’ she added.
Ocean Fest Vol-2 2024 is not only a stage for displaying works of art, but also a means of strengthening intercultural brotherhood.
This spirit reflects UNIPMA's commitment in producing students who are creative, innovative, and care about preserving the nation's culture.
For the success of this year's event, Ocean Fest Vol-2 2024 is clear evidence that art and culture have the power to unite differences, while promoting Indonesia as a nation rich in cultural heritage.
