As a concrete step in strengthening academic networks in Southeast Asia, Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Instituto Superior Cristal (ISC) Timor Leste on 26 October 2024. The MoU was part of the Indonesian Education Exhibition organised by the Indonesian Cultural Centre and the Indonesian Embassy in Timor Leste, which took place on 23-26 October 2024.

The MoU signing ceremony took place in the ISC main building, attended by representatives of both universities. UNIPMA was represented by Mrs Dwi Rosita Sari, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D., and Mrs Candra Dewi, S.Pd., M.Pd., while ISC was represented by Dr Sebastiao Pereira, S.IP, MM. The MoU is expected to be the foundation for strategic cooperation between the two universities, which will include various continuing education programmes, collaborative research, and community service activities.

Mrs Dwi Rosita Sari, S.Pd, M.Pd, Ph.D, when interviewed, expressed the importance of this international cooperation as a significant step to broaden academic horizons and create opportunities for students and lecturers at both universities.

‘Our hope through this MoU is to form a sustainable synergy between UNIPMA and UNTL in various educational activities. This collaboration will open up opportunities for both parties to share knowledge and experience, especially in developing educational programmes that are relevant to the needs of the community in each country,’ said Mrs. Dwi Rosita Sari, S.Pd, M.Pd, Ph. D, Friday, 08/11/2024, yesterday.

She added that this collaboration is not just a formal agreement, but a strong foundation for various further initiatives, such as student exchanges, lecturer exchanges, joint research, and community service projects that are relevant to the needs of the people in both countries.

The Indonesian Education Exhibition held by the Indonesian Cultural Centre and the Indonesian Embassy in Timor Leste also received appreciation from various parties. In addition to being an educational promotion event, this activity plays an important role in strengthening diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Timor Leste in the education sector.

Through this MoU, UNIPMA and Instituto Superior Cristal are committed to continuing to develop innovative and sustainable educational programmes, as well as contributing to improving the quality of education in the Southeast Asian region.
