Cultural Diversity: International Students Wear Traditional Javanese Clothing
The cultural diversity continued on Saturday, 11/04/2024, yesterday at the Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) campus, where international students from various countries wore traditional Central Javanese clothing. The event was initiated by Brigitta Septarini Rahmasari, S.S., M.Pd. and Puput Jianggimahastu L.S, S.Pd., M.Pd aims to introduce international students to the elegance and wisdom inherent in Javanese traditional clothing.
In this energetic session, five students from Mariano Marcos State University and Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology found themselves fascinated by Indonesian culture. In an atmosphere full of joy, they Mark James Barayuga, Midsy De La Cruz, Naomi Claire De La Cruz, Hannah Mira F.Toledanes, and Charlie Miguel Chriselle Janne F., proudly wore kebaya and blangkon, while they practiced politeness and elegance become a characteristic of Javanese culture.
According to Mrs. Brigitta Septarini Rahmasari, S.S., M.Pd. and Mrs. Puput Jianggimahastu L. S, S.Pd., M.Pd, the aim of this activity is to provide international students with a deep understanding Indonesia's cultural diversity. They hope that through this direct experience, students can experience for themselves the beauty and uniqueness of Javanese traditional clothing and understand the philosophy behind each piece.
Apart from that, this activity also provides an opportunity for international students to learn Indonesian practically. By wearing traditional Javanese clothing, they not only deepen their knowledge of the language, but also gain broader insight into the richness of Indonesian culture.
Thus, the hope this activity is that international students can better appreciate and understand Indonesian culture, and bring home valuable experiences about the cultural diversity that Indonesia has.
