Exploring Research-Based Business Opportunities, UM Lecturer Inspires UNIPMA Students Through Bioentrepreneurship

UNIPMA – In an effort to foster science-based entrepreneurship among young people, Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA), in collaboration with Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), held a public lecture entitled “Bioentrepreneurship: Transforming Biological Research into Sustainable Businesses” on Friday (October 9). The lecture began with an official opening by UNIPMA Rector Dr. Supri Wahyudi Utomo, M.Pd., at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) Building, before the students moved to the classroom in front of the auditorium.

The event was enthusiastically attended by dozens of students from the Science Education, Chemical Engineering, and Biology Education Study Programs. It aimed to broaden students' perspectives on the significant economic value of biological research when managed creatively and innovatively.

Serving as the keynote speaker, Ajeng Daniarsih, S.Si., M.Si., from Universitas Negeri Malang shared practical guidance on transforming biological research into sustainable business opportunities. The session was also supported by a team of UM facilitators, namely Dr. Siti Imroatul Maslikah, S.Si., M.Si., Agung Witjoro, S.Pd., M.Kes., Umi Fitriyati, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Zahra Anggita Pratiwi, S.Gz., MPH.

“Bioentrepreneurship is not merely about selling biological products; it is about transforming scientific innovations and laboratory research findings into value-added solutions that address market needs sustainably,” Ajeng Daniarsih explained to the lecture participants.

Moderated by Inung Diah Kurniawati, M.Pd., the session took place in a dynamic and engaging atmosphere. Throughout the event, students actively took notes on key points using worksheets provided by the organizing committee to summarize strategies for developing innovative businesses. Students were also introduced to various bioentrepreneurship products developed by UM.

Through this activity, students are expected not only to excel academically but also to be inspired to establish new science- and technology-based businesses.
