UNIPMA’s Electrical Engineering Education Study Program Wins First Place at UNS STEM Project Competition, Showcases Four Technological Innovations
UNIPMA – A student team from the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program (PTE) at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) won first place in the 3 Minutes Presentation category at the 2026 STEM Project Competition, organized by Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) in Surakarta on Thursday (October 8).
The team, supervised by lecturer Ihtiari Prastyaningrum, S.Si., M.Si., consisted of six students: Kitaro Rhama Dandi Setiawan, Adam Kusnianto, Asta Nina Karunia, Geo Shella, Bimantara Cakra Manggala Kusuma, and Feri Nurdianto. At the competition, the UNIPMA team showcased four innovative projects focusing on education, sustainability, inclusivity, and engineering technology.
The four featured projects included STEAM Learning Based on Solar Panel System, which utilizes a solar panel system to introduce the concept of renewable energy, and Joglo Incline STEAM Box, which combines the local architectural wisdom of the traditional Joglo house with the physics principles of inclined planes.
In addition, the team presented the Audio Tactile Braille Board, an inclusive learning board equipped with touch sensors to help visually impaired individuals learn Braille, as well as the Lightning Protection System, an integrated lightning protection prototype featuring Augmented Reality (AR) technology.
In her report to the Public Relations team, Ihtiari Prastyaningrum, S.Si., M.Si., stated that the projects focused on technological innovation. “Our main objective is to present innovative projects in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM),” she said.
The applied technological innovations presented by the UNIPMA team align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education, SDG 7 on Affordable and Clean Energy, and SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
This achievement also represents a tangible manifestation of the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi), encompassing education, research, and the potential for community service through the downstream application of technology.
