UNIPMA Strengthens Manguharjo MSMEs from Business Legality to AI-Based Marketing

UNIPMA — A community service team comprising lecturers from the Faculty of Law and Information Technology at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) is assisting MSME operators in Manguharjo District, Madiun City, through training on business legality and technology-based marketing. The workshop, held on Thursday (October 1), was part of an ongoing assistance program running from July to November 2026.

The program combines three main areas: digital marketing, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based product photography, and business legalization. The team also introduced a Digital Marketing Kit and Playbook Prompt AI to help MSME operators prepare marketing materials for their products.

Head of the Community Service Team, Dr. Sulistya Eviningrum, S.H., M.H., said the cross-disciplinary approach was necessary because MSME needs extend beyond marketing. Business legality was also included as part of the assistance provided.

“This assistance combines business legality with technology-based marketing skills,” said Sulistya.

During the workshop, participants received guidance on product photography, visual identity development, and the use of AI to create promotional copy. The team also distributed a pocket guide as a practical reference for using AI in day-to-day marketing activities.

The assistance did not stop at introducing technology. MSME operators also received information on legal aspects related to business legality, allowing both needs to be addressed within the same program.

“We introduced the process from product photography and the Digital Marketing Kit to the use of Playbook Prompt AI for promotional materials,” Sulistya said.

Several local MSMEs took part in the program, including Koyani Prawi, Chocotelo, Beras Reso Gati, Bolen Pisang dan Bolen Ubi, Mamosa Stik Keju dan Mamosa Kacang Bawang, Pawon Mbok D, and TASNIM.

The involvement of the Faculty of Law and Information Technology brought a cross-disciplinary approach to the program. The Faculty of Law addressed business legality, while the Information Technology team provided training on the use of AI and digital marketing.

Nizam Zakka Arrizal, S.H., M.Kn., and Moch Yusuf Asyhari, S.Tr.Kom., M.Kom., were also involved in the program alongside Sulistya. Faculty of Law students also participated in the activities as part of their learning process and community service.

The partnership with Manguharjo MSMEs was further strengthened through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). The agreements form part of the partnership between the university and its MSME partners in implementing the program.

For UNIPMA, the program represents one form of implementing the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi), particularly community service. Knowledge developed within the academic environment is applied through training, assistance, and knowledge transfer to business operators.

The cross-disciplinary approach is also an important element of the program. Legal knowledge and technology are brought together to address MSME needs related to business legality and product promotion through digital channels.

The assistance program is also linked to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Strengthening MSME capacity is related to SDG 8, concerning decent work and economic growth, while the use of AI and digital technology is related to SDG 9, concerning industry, innovation, and infrastructure.

The partnership between the university and MSME partners through the MoU and MoA is related to SDG 17, concerning partnerships for the goals. Meanwhile, assistance with business legality is related to SDG 16, concerning peace, justice, and strong institutions.
