UNIPMA – English proficiency is one of the standards considered by Islamic International School Pesantren Sabilil Muttaqien (IIS PSM) Magetan in supporting an international-standard school environment. To measure this proficiency, IIS PSM entrusted the English Academic Proficiency Test (EAPT) for its teachers and educational staff to the Language Development Center (P2B) of Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA).

A total of 121 teachers and staff participated in the test. The EAPT was conducted in two stages. The first stage was held at IIS PSM Magetan on Friday (September 18), with the P2B UNIPMA team coming directly to administer the test. Meanwhile, participants who had not taken the test in the first stage underwent a make-up test at P2B UNIPMA.

The Director of IIS PSM Magetan, Puji Santoso, M.Pd., said that conducting the test at P2B UNIPMA was a first-time experience for the institution. Previously, IIS PSM had also worked with other institutions to assess the English proficiency of its teachers and staff.

“This is our first time at UNIPMA. Previously, we also conducted tests or collaborated with other institutions,” Puji Santoso, M.Pd., said on Wednesday (September 23).

P2B UNIPMA was chosen because it is supported by an integrated testing system and application, as well as adequate laboratory facilities. According to Puji Santoso, M.Pd., the readiness of experienced examiners was also a consideration in conducting the test.

“The facilities are representative, and the human resources are also accustomed to conducting tests,” he added.

The assessment is not solely aimed at achieving high scores. IIS PSM hopes that the English proficiency of its teachers and staff can increasingly be applied in daily communication within the school environment.

“In addition to achieving good results or scores, we hope this can encourage everyone to speak and communicate in English in the future,” Puji Santoso, M.Pd., concluded.

Meanwhile, P2B UNIPMA, headed by Dr. Fitra Pinandhita, M.Pd., provides language development and proficiency testing services for the university community and the general public.

P2B’s services include TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, EAPT, English, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin, as well as professional English, public speaking, workshops, courses, and translation services. P2B also organizes Language Competency Tests (UKB) for students, lecturers, employees, and the general public.

Through these services, P2B continues to strengthen its role as a center for language testing and training. For IIS PSM Magetan, the EAPT serves as part of an effort to map proficiency levels while maintaining the English language standards of its teachers and staff.
