Starting University, New FIKS UNIPMA Students Introduced to Facilities and New Educational Pathways
UNIPMA — New students of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Science (FIKS) at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) were not only introduced to university life but also to various facilities and educational pathways currently being developed by the faculty. An overview of these opportunities was presented during the FIKS Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at the Integrated Laboratory on the 4th Floor on Thursday (September 10), attended by 40 students from the Sports Science (IKOR) and Bachelor of Pharmacy programs.
PKKMB serves as an initial gateway for students to understand learning patterns in higher education, which differ from those in school. They were introduced to the academic atmosphere, learning processes, facilities, and campus environment that will become part of their educational journey.
Dean of FIKS UNIPMA apt. Weka Sidha Bhagawan, M.Farm., said that the introduction was important to help students better adapt before beginning their university studies. “Students need to understand how the learning process will take place, including the academic atmosphere, academic disciplines, and available facilities,” he said.
Amid the arrival of new students, FIKS is preparing several developments within its study programs. “FIKS has completed its laboratory facilities, including a gym lab that students can use for practical activities and to apply their knowledge,” he added.
Development is also being carried out through expanded cooperation with institutions in the field of sports, including the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI). This network is expected to broaden students’ learning opportunities beyond the campus environment.
Meanwhile, the Bachelor of Pharmacy program has received updated laboratory instruments and equipment, along with strengthened human resources. FIKS also facilitates a one-year Pharmacist Professional Program as an advanced educational pathway for Bachelor of Pharmacy graduates who wish to become pharmacists.
These efforts are part of FIKS’s target for 2033 to become a nationally outstanding faculty in the fields of health sciences and science. The faculty also aims to produce competitive graduates with entrepreneurial skills.
apt. Weka Sidha Bhagawan, M.Farm., emphasized that the various facilities and programs prepared by the faculty would be more meaningful if students actively utilized them.
“Students not only need to adapt to the campus environment but also make use of the support that has been provided,” he concluded.
During PKKMB, new students were also introduced to student organizations, such as the Faculty of Health Sciences and Science Student Association (HMFIKS), the Pharmacy Student Organization (Phardention), and the Sports Science Study Program Student Association (HMPS IKOR).
For new students, the introduction provided an initial picture that life at FIKS does not stop at activities in the classroom. There are practical facilities, networks, organizations, and opportunities for further education that they can utilize while developing their competencies in the fields of health and science.
