UNIPMA – The Electrical Engineering Study Program at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) conducted an industrial visit to the Pantai Baru Hybrid Power Plant (PLTH) in Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, on Wednesday (June 24). The activity was designed to provide students with hands-on learning experiences in the application of renewable energy technologies while introducing them to the professional working environment in the industry.

The industrial visit was attended by Electrical Engineering students from the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th semesters. They were accompanied by lecturers from the Electrical Engineering Study Program: Irna Tri Yuniahastuti, S.Pd., M.T.; Bayu Fandidarma, S.T., M.T.; and Ridam Dwi Laksono, S.Si., M.Pd. Also participating were Riyan Tri Susanto, Chair of the Electrical Engineering Student Association (HMPS), and Nazwa Aura Saputra, Chair of the Organizing Committee.

One of the participants, Fauzan, said the industrial visit served as a field-based learning opportunity for students to gain firsthand knowledge of the Hybrid Power Plant (PLTH) system, which combines wind energy through wind turbines and solar energy through photovoltaic panels to generate renewable electricity.

"Through this visit, students were able to learn directly about the electricity generation process, operational systems, maintenance procedures, and the implementation of renewable energy technologies in the industrial sector," he said on Tuesday (July 7).

He explained that the activity was part of the annual work program of HMPS Electra, organized in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering Study Program as an effort to bridge the gap between academic learning and the professional world. In addition to broadening their academic knowledge, students gained insights into technological developments, professional work culture, and the needs of the electrical power industry.

According to Fauzan, the experience provided significant added value, allowing students to witness the real-world application of technologies that they had previously learned only in the classroom.

"This activity was an invaluable experience because we were able to observe the practical implementation of renewable energy technologies firsthand. Besides expanding our academic knowledge, we also gained a better understanding of professional work culture, industry standards, and technological advancements in the power sector," he said.

Through this industrial visit, the Electrical Engineering Study Program at UNIPMA hopes to strengthen students' competencies, expand their professional networks with industry partners, and create opportunities for internships, research collaborations, partnerships, and future careers in renewable energy and the electrical power sector.

In the future, the study program expects industrial visits to be conducted regularly with the involvement of more industry partners, enabling students to be better prepared for both the workforce and entrepreneurial opportunities after completing their studies.
