UNIPMA Lecturers Invited as Speakers at Samin Festival, Strengthening the Role of an Impactful Campus

Dosen Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) were invited as speakers at the 10th Samin Festival held in Jepang Village, Bojonegoro, on Thursday (17/6). Their participation reflects UNIPMA’s effort to strengthen its role as an impactful university through research, community service, and local cultural development.

The UNIPMA lecturer team consisted of Dr. Aris Wuryantoro, S.S., M.Hum., and Drs. Sumani, M.M. from the English Education Study Program, Dr. Novi Triana Habsari, S.Pd., M.Pd. from History Education, and Dr. Edy Suprapto, S.Si., M.Pd., Vice Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP).

In his statement, Dr. Aris Wuryantoro, S.S., M.Hum. explained that their involvement was not only as invited speakers but also opened opportunities for academic collaboration based on local cultural studies.

He noted that the Sedulur Sikep cultural community in Bojonegoro has strong potential to be developed into research activities, community service programs, and student Community Service Programs (KKN).

“This potential is very interesting to be further developed, whether for research, community service, or student KKN programs,” he said.

He further explained that Sedulur Sikep culture contains social values that remain relevant to modern life and can serve as a source of character education for students and the wider community.

Some of the key teachings include Laku Jujur, Sabar, lan Nerimo (living with honesty, patience, and acceptance), as well as Ojo Dengki, Srei, lan Panasten (avoiding envy, greed, and anger).

The community also upholds the principle Ojo Waton Ngomong, Nanging Ngomong Sing Waton (do not speak carelessly, but speak truthfully), and Ojo Waton Tindak, Nanging Tindak Sing Waton (act based on truth and proper conduct). Another principle emphasizes respecting others’ rights and Ojo Bedak-bedakne Menungso (not discriminating between people).

According to Dr. Aris Wuryantoro, S.S., M.Hum., these values are highly relevant to contemporary social life, including strengthening religious and national moderation.

“The principle of not discriminating between people makes Sedulur Sikep teachings a very suitable role model for social moderation,” he added.

The participation of UNIPMA lecturers in this cultural forum also serves as an implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in contributing to society through cultural and educational approaches.

Through this activity, UNIPMA continues to demonstrate its commitment as an impactful university that actively develops research and community service based on local potential and Indonesian cultural wisdom.
