Hands-on Action! PBI FKIP UNIPMA Lecturers Plant Mangroves at Cengkrong Beach, Trenggalek, East Java

UNIPMA – The English Education Study Program (PBI), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA), has once again demonstrated its commitment to coastal environmental conservation. This was shown through a community service activity in the form of mangrove planting at Cengkrong Beach, Trenggalek, East Java, on Sunday (22/6).

The activity was attended by all lecturers of the PBI Study Program at UNIPMA and was led directly by Dr. Sumani, M.M., M.Hum. The mangrove planting was carried out as a form of support for sustainable coastal ecosystem rehabilitation.

During the implementation, participants were divided into several groups to carry out direct planting in the rehabilitation area. The activity was conducted enthusiastically and served as an educational platform on the importance of sustainable coastal resource management.

This community service activity is part of the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education, particularly in the area of community service. In addition, the activity also represents the PBI FKIP UNIPMA’s effort to build global collaboration based on environmental and sustainability issues.

Cross-cultural interaction during the activity also provided a learning experience for participants in understanding the challenges of coastal ecosystem conservation in Indonesia.

The activity is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 on climate action through coastal area rehabilitation as natural carbon absorbers, and SDG 14 on the conservation of marine ecosystems and coastal habitats.

Through this activity, the PBI FKIP UNIPMA hopes that environmental awareness and conservation spirit will continue to grow and have a positive impact on the sustainability of coastal ecosystems in the future.
