UNIPMA – Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) held a joint prayer event to welcome the Islamic New Year, 1 Muharram 1448 H, attended by the entire academic community at Graha Cendekia on Monday (June 15).
The event included the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the reading of Surah Yasin and a religious sermon. During the sermon, participants were encouraged to use the Hijri New Year as a moment for self-reflection and for improving the quality of their faith and good deeds.
Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and is one of the four sacred months (Asyhurul Hurum) honored in Islamic teachings. It is also known as Syahrullah, or the Month of Allah. According to Islamic law, Muharram is a month in which Muslims are encouraged to increase righteous deeds and avoid acts of ظلم and injustice.
This joint prayer event is one of UNIPMA’s annual programs aimed at strengthening religious values and fostering togetherness within the campus community. The activity also serves as part of the spiritual development of the academic community.
Participants stated that the event provided an opportunity to strengthen solidarity and enhance spiritual awareness in welcoming the Islamic New Year.
