UNIPMA Industrial Engineering Study Program Visits PT Dan Liris Sukoharjo, Learns About Modern Manufacturing Systems
UNIPMA – The Industrial Engineering Study Program together with the Industrial Engineering Student Community (KMTI) of Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) conducted an industrial visit to PT Dan Liris on Wednesday (3/6). The activity served as a direct learning opportunity for students to understand production processes and operational systems in the modern manufacturing industry.
The visit was attended by the Head of the UNIPMA Industrial Engineering Study Program, Aloysius Tommy Hendrawan, S.T., M.T., KMTI Advisor Aan Zainal Muttaqin, S.T., M.T., IPP., lecturers, educational staff, and Industrial Engineering students.
In an interview, Aloysius Tommy Hendrawan, S.T., M.T., stated that the comparative study and industrial visit aimed to broaden students’ knowledge and provide real experiences regarding the application of industrial engineering knowledge in the workplace.
“Through this activity, students can gain new experiences, understand industrial work systems, and use the results of the visit as material for evaluation and development of the study program,” he said.
The activity began with an opening session in the conference room of PT Dan Liris. On that occasion, participants received a welcome speech from the company representatives and watched a company profile video explaining the history, development, and business processes of PT Dan Liris as one of Indonesia’s textile and garment companies.
Furthermore, participants were divided into two groups for field observations. The first group visited the production area of PT Ambassador Garmindo (PT AG), while the second group conducted operational observations at PT Dan Liris.
During the observation activities, students directly observed production processes, resource management, quality control, and the implementation of industrial engineering concepts in the manufacturing environment. Students also gained insight into industrial challenges that continue to evolve amid global competition.
In addition to field visits, the activity also included discussions regarding production systems and company management. At the student level, the activity became a medium for exchanging information related to work programs, organizational structures, and innovations in student organization management.
Meanwhile, at the study program level, the visit was utilized to observe curriculum implementation, learning methods, laboratory facilities, as well as university and industrial governance as materials for academic quality development.
Aloysius Tommy Hendrawan, S.T., M.T., added that the industrial visit is expected to strengthen the relationship between universities and industry in supporting the improvement of educational quality and graduate competencies.
“Collaboration between universities and industry is important to support students’ readiness in facing the demands of the workforce,” he concluded.
After the observation sessions were completed, all participants gathered again in the conference room to join a question-and-answer session with company representatives. During the session, students actively asked questions regarding production processes, operational management, quality control, and career opportunities in the manufacturing industry.
Through this activity, the UNIPMA Industrial Engineering Study Program hopes students can broaden their understanding of the application of theory in the industrial world while improving their readiness to face workplace challenges. The activity also became part of strengthening cooperation between universities and industry in supporting the development of competent graduates who are relevant to the needs of business and industry.
