UNIPMA’s 51st Anniversary Celebration: Coswalk and Cosplay Competition Draws Strong Interest from Generation Z

UNIPMA – Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) held a Coswalk and Cosplay Competition at the UNIPMA Integrated Laboratory on Sunday (May 31) as part of its 51st Anniversary Celebration (Dies Natalis). The anniversary event, themed “UNIPMA Excelling Through Innovation, Making an Impact for the Nation,” was open to the public, with most participants consisting of university students and senior high school students or their equivalents.

The event was attended by UNIPMA Rector Dr. Supri Wahyudi Utomo, M.Pd., members of the university leadership, lecturers, students, and visitors who filled the venue. Participants appearing in a variety of creative costumes and portraying different characters became the main attraction of the competition.

Lusia Kristiasih Dwi P., S.S., M.A., a member of the organizing committee and the event’s contact person, stated in an interview that the Coswalk and Cosplay Competition was a new breakthrough in UNIPMA’s anniversary celebration series.

“The Coswalk and Cosplay Competition is a type of activity that has been organized by the university for the first time as part of this year’s anniversary celebration. It also serves as an informational platform to introduce UNIPMA to high school students and university students as young people who have a strong interest in creativity, art, and popular culture,” said Lusia Kristiasih Dwi P., S.S., M.A.

Throughout the event, participants showcased a variety of characters from anime, games, films, and original creations. Their performances received positive responses from the audience who crowded the event area. The enthusiasm was evident from the high level of participation and the support given to each performer.

Through this activity, UNIPMA not only provided entertainment for the academic community and the public but also created a platform for young people to express their creativity and interests in the performing arts. The event aligned with the theme of the 51st Anniversary Celebration, which emphasizes the importance of tangible achievements and positive contributions to society.

The activity was also in line with the Impactful Campus Program initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), which encourages higher education institutions to expand community engagement through educational and innovative activities.

The successful implementation of the event was supported by collaboration among the organizing committee, students, members of the academic community, and various parties involved in both the preparation and execution of the program. This synergy played an important role in ensuring the event ran smoothly and received positive responses from participants and visitors alike.

Through the Coswalk and Cosplay Competition, UNIPMA demonstrated its commitment to supporting the development of creativity, art, and culture among the younger generation. The university hopes that this event will continue to serve as a positive space for self-expression while strengthening the relationship between the campus and the wider community, particularly prospective students from various regions.
