UNIPMA and CMU Philippines Explore Academic and Sports Research Collaboration
Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) held an online meeting with Central Mindanao University (CMU), Philippines, on Monday (April 27). The meeting aimed to initiate strategic collaboration in the academic field, ranging from faculty mobility to joint research development, particularly in sports science study programs.
Head of the Bureau of Cooperation and Public Relations (BKH) UNIPMA, Dr. Sri Lestari, M.Pd., stated that the discussion was a concrete step to strengthen international networks. “This meeting is a strategic effort to open opportunities for global collaboration, especially in academics and research, enabling lecturers and students to gain broader international experience,” she said.
Also attending the meeting were representatives from the Sports Science Study Program (IKOR) UNIPMA, Theresia Budi Sucihati, M.Pd., and Agung Dwi Darmawan, S.Pd., M.Pd. Meanwhile, the CMU Philippines delegation included Procopio B. Galendez Jr., EdD (Chair of the PE Department), Genifer C. Ramoso, MAED, Hannah Lovelle R. Abiabi, MAED, Angeline T. Limocon, EdD, Pamela Christine H. Escaner, MAED, and Dianne L. Salvaleon, all of whom are faculty members in the field of Physical Education.
The discussion focused on three main strategic points. First, faculty mobility programs or lecturer exchanges. Second, international student exchange through the SEA Teacher scheme. Third, opportunities for joint research focused on innovation in sports science.
The discussion reflected a shared vision to build an equal and professional partnership. Rather than merely exploratory, the meeting was directed toward formulating technical programs ready for implementation in the near future to enrich the academic experience of both institutions.
This initiative is part of UNIPMA’s commitment to advancing educational transformation through the “Impactful Campus” concept. The effort aligns with the direction of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), which encourages universities to enhance global competitiveness through sustainable international collaboration.
Through this synergy, UNIPMA is optimistic that its collaboration with CMU Philippines will bring tangible impacts, particularly in improving the quality of learning and graduates in the field of sports, enabling them to compete at the international level.
