International Collaboration! UNIPMA Together with BASC Philippines Conduct IHT Teacher Training at SMAN 1 Grogol, Kediri, East Java
The international collaboration between Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) and Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) Philippines was successfully carried out through an In-House Training (IHT) teacher training titled “Integrating AI, Technology and 21st Century Skills in Learning” at SMAN 1 Grogol, Kediri, East Java, on Wednesday (15/4).
The training is part of a community service program focused on improving teachers’ competencies in integrating artificial intelligence (AI), technology, and 21st-century skills into the learning process.
The event was attended by UNIPMA delegates, namely Vice Rector III Dr. Jeffry Handhika, M.Pd., M.Si., Biology Education Program lecturer Dr. Muh. Waskito Ardhi, M.Pd., and Nurul Kusuma Dewi, M.Sc. Meanwhile, from BASC Philippines, Herbert De Jesus, M.A.Ed. was present.
From the school, the event was led by the Principal of SMAN 1 Grogol, Misbahul Ibad, M.Pd., and was attended by representatives of the Kediri Regional Education Office Branch, Fuad Tofi, M.Pd., as well as teachers as participants.
On the same occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between SMAN 1 Grogol and Universitas PGRI Madiun as a form of strengthening cooperation in the field of education.
The training was moderated by Nurul Kusuma Dewi, M.Sc. The first material was delivered by Herbert De Jesus on “Engaging 21st Century Learners,” emphasizing the importance of learning strategies to increase active student engagement in the digital era.
The second material was delivered by Dr. Muh. Waskito Ardhi, M.Pd., on “Integrating AI into Inquiry-Based Learning.” He explained the use of AI in supporting inquiry-based learning to develop students’ critical thinking skills.
Next, Dr. Jeffry Handhika, M.Pd., M.Si., presented “Using Google Sites for Learning.” In this session, participants were introduced to the use of digital media as an interactive and innovative learning tool.
The activity ran interactively through a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to discuss and deepen their understanding of the implementation of the materials in the classroom. As an evaluation, the session was closed with a post-test.
Nurul Kusuma Dewi, M.Sc., stated in an interview that this training is expected to provide practical understanding for teachers in utilizing technology appropriately.
“Through this training, teachers are expected to be able to integrate AI and technology effectively in learning, so that it can support the development of 21st-century skills in students,” she said on Monday (20/4).
Through this activity, UNIPMA reaffirms its commitment to improving the quality of education through international collaboration and strengthening educator competencies that are adaptive to technological developments.
