International Collaboration! Chemical Engineering Holds Guest Lecture and Signs IA with Philippine Campus

The Chemical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA), continues to expand its global academic network by holding a Guest Lecture as well as signing an Implementation Agreement (IA) with Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC), Philippines. The event took place at the UNIPMA Integrated Laboratory on Tuesday (8/4) and was enthusiastically welcomed by students.

Together with Herbert M. De Jesus, a lecturer from BASC Philippines who served as the speaker, the event shared the latest insights on collaborative learning and the implementation of quality management systems in the modern chemical industry.

The signing of the IA marks a strategic step to strengthen cross-country academic cooperation, particularly in the development of chemical engineering and international standard-based quality management systems. The agreement was signed directly by the Head of the Chemical Engineering Study Program, Dyan Hatining Ayu Sudarni, S.ST., M.T., and witnessed by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Nasrul Rofiah Hidayati, S.T., M.Pd.

From the beginning of the event, the atmosphere was lively. Students actively participated in every session, from material presentations to interactive discussions. Various questions were raised, especially regarding the implementation of ISO 9001:2015 in the continuously evolving chemical industry.

In his presentation, Herbert emphasized the importance of integrating quality management systems with the concept of green energy. According to him, the future chemical industry is not only required to be efficient but also sustainable.

“The chemical industry of the future must be able to integrate quality, efficiency, and sustainability. ISO 9001:2015 can serve as an important foundation to achieve this,” he said.

The discussion flowed dynamically. Students explored further the operation management system based on green energy, ranging from process quality control, internal audits, to continuous improvement strategies to enhance industrial performance sustainably.

Through this activity, UNIPMA hopes to provide a fresh, inspiring, and industry-relevant academic space. This collaboration is also expected to become a bridge between education and industry, especially in facing the transformation of the chemical industry toward a more environmentally friendly green energy era.

With the spirit of international collaboration, this step is proof that the Chemical Engineering Study Program at UNIPMA is capable of appearing on the global stage, bringing new energy for students to continue developing and be ready to face future challenges.
