The Management Study Program of UNIPMA Holds a Guest Lecture “Assessment Business with AI,” Equipping Students to Face a Technology-Based Workforce
The Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) continues to strengthen students’ readiness in facing the increasingly technology-driven dynamics of the workforce. This effort was realized through a guest lecture themed “Assessment Business with AI,” featuring Assistant Professor Herbert M. De Jesus from Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC), Philippines.
The activity, which is part of a collaborative learning approach in the Business Communication course, was held in Room C-202 on Friday (10/4). The session was led by lecturer Ririh Anggraini Setyahety, S.E., M.M., and attended by fourth-semester students. The guest lecture created an active, communicative, and up-to-date learning environment, encouraging students to engage more interactively in discussions.
From the beginning of the session, students were introduced to how artificial intelligence (AI) can be utilized to support business activities, particularly in the field of communication. The discussion was conducted interactively, combining theoretical insights with practical applications of various rapidly developing AI tools. In addition, students were also introduced to the use of AI in assessment processes, including how this technology can support learning evaluation and the implementation of assessments in a more effective, efficient, and objective manner.
The Head of the Management Study Program, Dr. Apriyanti, S.E., M.M., emphasized the importance of using technology wisely. According to her, AI is not meant to replace students’ thinking processes, but rather to serve as a supporting tool that must be used proportionally.
“Students must be able to utilize technology to facilitate learning, but not depend on it entirely. There must be a filtering process to ensure it remains in line with academic standards,” she stated.
In line with this, Ririh Anggraini Setyahety, S.E., M.M., explained that the topic reflects a collaboration between technological developments and the course she teaches. She emphasized the importance of understanding AI from a business communication perspective.
“Students are not only introduced to a single platform, but also to various AI tools, both free and paid. This broadens their perspective that AI is not limited to one application, but is extensive and can support various needs, including research,” she explained.
During the session, students were also introduced to several AI platforms that support research and learning. This aims to provide them with alternatives in developing academic assignments while improving the quality of their analysis.
However, the use of AI must remain within clear boundaries. Ririh Anggraini Setyahety, S.E., M.M., emphasized that AI can be utilized to find references, expand literacy, and support research, but still requires control and ethical considerations in its use.
Through this activity, the Management Study Program of UNIPMA reaffirmed its commitment to not only focusing on academic achievement but also on strengthening students’ practical competencies. Graduates are expected not only to obtain a degree but also to possess adaptive abilities in responding to technological developments.
UNIPMA’s commitment to delivering contextual learning highlights the university’s concrete efforts in producing graduates who are ready to face global, technology-based challenges.
