UNIPMA Prepares Outstanding and Creative Debaters Through 2026 University-Level KDMI Selection

The 2026 Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) University-Level Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI) selection was successfully held on Thursday (March 12). The event, held in the Micro Lab Room at UNIPMA Campus 1, served as a strategic platform to sharpen students’ critical thinking, argumentative logic, and communication skills.

The university-level KDMI serves as the first step for UNIPMA in selecting and preparing top students to compete at higher levels. The competition is designed to help students develop systematic, critical, and analytical thinking while responding quickly, accurately, and argumentatively to various debate motions.

Head of UNIPMA Student Affairs Bureau (BKM), Arri Kurniawan, S.S., M.Pd., explained that KDMI plays an important role in developing students’ intellectual capacity and communication skills.

“This event provides students with a space to practice systematic thinking and respond to various motions quickly, accurately, and argumentatively,” he said.

He added that KDMI evaluates not only students’ ability to express opinions but also requires participants to have sharp analysis on issues raised in the debate motions. Participants are challenged to construct logical, data-based, and well-structured arguments.

Moreover, the competition also hones students’ communication skills, public speaking, confidence, and precision in conveying ideas. Participants are expected to continuously update their knowledge on national and global issues, an essential part of shaping students with broad perspectives, critical thinking, and the ability to respond to social dynamics argumentatively.

After a series of debates and evaluations by the panel of judges, six top participants were selected for their outstanding performance:

  • 1st Place: Fitri Wulandari, Law Program, total score 97
  • 2nd Place: Felina Inggit Anjani, PBSI Program, total score 96
  • 3rd Place: Arvika Chanda Danela, Science Education Program, total score 95
  • 1st Runner-Up: Liontin Bintan Afifah, English Education Program, total score 94
  • 2nd Runner-Up: Nur Arifin, Electrical Engineering Education Program, total score 93
  • 3rd Runner-Up: Ahmad Muzaki, Law Program, total score 92

The selected participants will be prepared to represent UNIPMA in the regional KDMI selection under the coordination of the Higher Education Service Institution Region VII (LLDIKTI VII). Coaching and mentoring will ensure delegates perform optimally in the competition.

“We hope to prepare the best team to represent UNIPMA at the LLDIKTI VII regional KDMI. Selected participants will receive guidance and training to be ready for the competition,” added Arri Kurniawan, S.S., M.Pd.

Through this event, UNIPMA reaffirms its commitment to continuously promoting students’ capacity development, particularly in critical thinking, communication, and argumentation. It is hoped that the selected delegates will achieve success and bring prestige to UNIPMA in national and international student debate competitions.
