International Synergy, UNIPMA and SNSU Discuss Psychological Well-Being and Mental Health

A tangible synergy has once again been demonstrated by Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) in affirming its presence as an impactful university on the global stage. Most recently, UNIPMA collaborated with Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU), Philippines, in the Global Expert Lecture Series on Sustainable Development Goals (GELS on SDGs), held online via Zoom on Friday (20/2).

The forum highlighted the third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), namely Good Health and Well-Being, with a focus on mental health issues in higher education.

In this international agenda, UNIPMA was represented by Dr. Sri Lestari, M.Pd., as a Global Expert Lecturer. She presented material titled “Psychological Well-Being of Exchange Program Students in EMI Settings,” which examined the psychological challenges faced by students in exchange programs, particularly in English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) learning environments.

Through this contribution, UNIPMA reaffirmed its active role in the global discourse on the importance of psychological support for students in the era of educational internationalization. This activity also served as a concrete step in implementing the university’s internationalization strategy, adapting to contemporary issues.

The synergy opens opportunities to strengthen academic networks, exchange knowledge, and foster further collaboration in research and community service. UNIPMA’s participation in GELS on SDGs also reflects its support for achieving sustainable development targets, particularly in the aspects of mental health and student well-being.

This strategic initiative with SNSU is expected to encourage the creation of a higher education ecosystem that is more attentive to mental health issues, while also strengthening educational partnerships between Indonesia and the Philippines.
