UNIPMA Law Students Intern at LBH Madiun, Directly Providing Legal Aid to the Community
A total of eleven students from the Law Study Program at the Faculty of Law, Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA), participated in a two-month internship program at the Madiun Legal Aid Institute (LBH Madiun). This activity took place from July 15 to September 17, 2025, as part of the implementation of practical learning in the legal field.
The eleven students are Aldhi Royan Nugraha, Febilita Erlinia Putri, Jumangin, Faizal Wahyu Mashuri, Atahaya Rinestu Lakstika, Ani Swindawati, Figur Jati Pramana Adi Ratna, Yudita Ayu Perdana, Efit Arum Handini, Sekar Rani, and Ghanendra Nugraha Putra.
During the internship, they were divided into several groups, each consisting of three people. Each group was rotated and placed in three different institutions: the Madiun Regency Religious Court, the Madiun City District Court, and the Madiun City Class I Correctional Institution (Lapas). The placement was carried out every two weeks so that students could gain equitable experience.
The interns were assigned to the POSBAKUM (Legal Aid Post) at each institution. They provided direct, free legal consultation and assistance to members of the public who needed help.
Efit Arum Handini, one of the participants, stated in an interview yesterday, Monday (20/10), that this experience provided a real understanding of legal practice in the field. "We didn't just observe; we also helped with consultation services and case administration. This opened our eyes to the community's need for access to legal aid," she said.
The program received full support from LBH Madiun. The students were directly mentored by the Head of LBH, Sigit Haryo Wibowo, S.H. LBH is an institution tasked with realizing a just, fair, effective, efficient, and accountable judiciary.
From the university's side, Dr. Indriyana Dwi Mustikarini, S.H., M.H., was present as the program's supervising lecturer and representative of the faculty. She expressed appreciation and full support for the students' involvement in this activity. "Interning at LBH is a strategic step to hone skills, build social empathy, and prepare students to face the working world after graduation," she stated.
This program is expected to broaden law students' understanding of advocacy practice and public service. Besides being a learning space, the experience also opens opportunities for connection with the job market in the field of legal aid.
