The table tennis competition of the National Student Sports and Arts Week (PORSENASMA) V PT PGRI officially began on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The matches took place at the Badminton Sports Hall (GOR Bulutangkis) on Jalan Setia Budi, Madiun City, with a lively competitive atmosphere from the very first match.

Dr. Ramadhan Prasetya Wibawa, M.Pd., as the coordinator of the table tennis branch, expressed the participants’ high enthusiasm. “It’s truly amazing, the cheers from supporters made the atmosphere even more alive. Today, we started with the men’s doubles and women’s doubles categories,” he said.

Four categories are being contested in this table tennis branch: men’s doubles, women’s doubles, men’s singles, and women’s singles. The competition format begins with round-robin matches followed by knockout rounds. “If there’s a draw, the winner is determined by a coin toss,” explained Dr. Ramadhan Prasetya Wibawa, M.Pd.

This competition is participated in by students from various PGRI universities across Indonesia, including STKIP PGRI Pacitan, Universitas PGRI Banyuwangi, Universitas Nusantara PGRI Kediri, Universitas PGRI Semarang, Universitas PGRI Jombang, and a delegation from East Kalimantan. The wide regional representation highlights the strong spirit of sportsmanship and unity among PGRI students.

Dr. Ramadhan Prasetya Wibawa, M.Pd., hopes this event can serve as a platform for both proving and developing student-athletes. “Through this event, students can showcase their talents. Hopefully, this will become a development and regeneration ground for PGRI table tennis athletes, potentially representing us at the national level,” he added.

The table tennis competition will continue intensely through to the finals and medal ceremony. With a tight match schedule, the athletes are required to perform at their best in every game.
