The taekwondo competition at the 2025 PORSENASMA V for PGRI Universities was officially held on Tuesday, 05/08/2025, at GOR Wilis, Madiun City. As part of this national-level inter-university competition, the event showcased the best performances of young athletes full of spirit and sportsmanship.

Saddan Pramana Putra, S.Pd., M.Or., the person in charge of the event, stated that this year’s taekwondo competition ran smoothly and was met with great enthusiasm from the participants. A total of 33 athletes from nine universities competed in a knock-out system, where winners advanced directly to the next round. “The participants' enthusiasm was already visible during the technical meeting. Everyone attended and was ready to compete,” explained Saddan.

He added that full support also came from the East Java Provincial Government, including the PSS system, scoring system, and match equipment. The Technical Delegate (TD) and referees on duty had also undergone refresher training, ensuring the technical execution aligned with the latest standards.

The one-day competition featured various categories such as under 58 kg, 63 kg, 74 kg for men, as well as under 46 kg and poomsae for women. As the host, PGRI University of Madiun (UNIPMA) performed admirably, securing two medals: gold in Men’s Poomsae, and bronze in Women’s Poomsae and Women’s Under 46 kg.

“This can serve as a benchmark to encourage UNIPMA students to be more active and excel in sports, especially taekwondo,” added Saddan Pramana Putra, S.Pd., M.Or.

With the successful organization of the taekwondo event, UNIPMA has proven its capacity as a host that is not only technically prepared but also capable of achieving competitive results.
