Entering Its Golden Age, UNIPMA Strengthens National Contribution and Realizes a Technology-Based Campus with Excellent Human Resources

Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) officially enters its golden age in 2025. Commemorating 50 years of existence, the university—formerly known as IKIP PGRI Madiun—reaffirms its commitment to becoming a leading national higher education institution that is excellent, innovative, and adaptive to the times.
UNIPMA’s track record since its establishment in 1975 reflects a continuous process of transformation. Initially starting with only five departments, UNIPMA has now grown into a higher education institution offering 30 study programs across Diploma (D3), Undergraduate (S1), and Postgraduate (S2) levels.

One of UNIPMA’s strategic achievements over these five decades is the successful attainment of “Excellent” accreditation status from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) for eight study programs:
• Bachelor of Physics Education
• Master of Social Science Education
• Bachelor of Civics Education
• Bachelor of Indonesian Language Education
• Bachelor of Biology Education
• Bachelor of Economics Education
• Bachelor of Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD)
• Bachelor of Mathematics Education

“An ‘Excellent’ accreditation is the main benchmark for the quality and excellence of a university. It’s concrete proof that UNIPMA consistently maintains academic standards and educational services,” said UNIPMA Rector Dr. Supri Wahyudi Utomo, M.Pd., Wednesday, 04/06/2025.

To strengthen its academic foundation, UNIPMA continues to improve both human resources and infrastructure. The university currently has two Professors (Guru Besar), and expects to appoint three more this year—bringing the total to five. This step is a strategic part of the university’s plan to develop a future Doctoral Program (S3).
“With the presence of new Professors, the opportunity to open a Doctoral Program becomes more feasible. This is a crucial need, especially since Madiun does not yet have a university offering a Doctoral degree,” the Rector added.

Of UNIPMA’s 270 lecturers, 95 currently hold Doctoral degrees. This number is expected to grow as part of the university’s efforts to enhance teaching quality and research capacity.

UNIPMA is also actively building international collaboration networks. Most recently, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Walailak University, Thailand, as part of a faculty and student exchange program. This initiative is part of UNIPMA’s broader move toward campus internationalization.

On the administrative side, campus governance is being modernized through a technology-based approach. The “Single Send” system has been adopted to streamline administrative processes, including faster and more efficient digital correspondence.
“By embracing technology, we are confident that all work processes will become more efficient and measurable,” explained Dr. Supri Wahyudi Utomo.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, UNIPMA adopted the theme Baswara Adiwarna, meaning “the radiant glory of diversity and innovation.” A series of events have been held to enliven this historic milestone, including a fun run, Grove Specta as the grand finale night, the 2025 UNIPMA Prince and Princess pageant, Student Arts and Sports Week (Porsema), and a Scientific Oration held on June 5, 2025.

“Our hope at this 50-year milestone is for UNIPMA to continue growing into a progressive university that is widely recognized and capable of competing and standing alongside renowned universities in Indonesia and the world,” he concluded.
