In his opening remarks, Dr. Supri Wahyudi Utomo, M.Pd., emphasized the importance of this meeting as the beginning of a long-term collaboration. “Let this not be the end of our connection. We are very open to synergizing with KPU in various programs, especially those that directly impact voter education and participation,” he asserted.
Chairperson of KPU Madiun City, Pita Anjasari, conveyed that her visit was not merely a formal call, but an invitation to build a mutually reinforcing partnership. “We would like to invite UNIPMA to collaborate in various KPU activities, especially in supporting voter education and electoral research. In the past, UNIPMA students have greatly assisted us during the local elections, and their contributions were truly significant,” she explained.
Dr. Jeffry Handhika, S.Si., M.Pd., M.Si., added that this initiative opens up opportunities, particularly for the Law and Civic Education (PPKn) Study Programs to be directly involved in the implementation of democratic education in the field. This was echoed by Dr. Siska Diana Sari, S.H., M.H., who expressed hope that this collaboration between UNIPMA and KPU would result in concrete and sustainable activities.
In the forum, KPU Madiun City also outlined several proposed collaboration points, including:
-
Continuous voter education based on MoU and MoA agreements.
-
Provision of election data by KPU to support comprehensive academic research.
-
Handover of evaluation books and the implementation of elections in Madiun City as scholarly references.
-
Cooperation in the program for continuous updating of voter data to ensure data accuracy after the regional elections, including updates due to deaths, marriages, turning 17 years old, and changes in other data elements.
This initiative lays the groundwork for synergy between the academic world and the election commission, aiming to foster a more democratically aware society that actively and responsibly participates in the political process.
