UNIPMA Cares for Madiun Flood Disaster, Distributes Aid to Affected Residents
Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) swiftly organized a social action to assist the victims of the flooding that affected Madiun Regency on Sunday, March 16, 2025. In this initiative, UNIPMA provided logistical aid to residents affected in RT 8, RT 9, and RT 10 of Sedoro Village, Tanjungrejo Village, Madiun District, as well as conducting cleaning efforts at places of worship and public facilities. This aid was prioritized for the poor and destitute who were most impacted by the disaster.
The UNIPMA volunteers consisted of an independent team under the New Student Admissions (PMB) department of UNIPMA. They went directly to the affected areas to ensure that the assistance provided met the needs of the residents. This activity was a true reflection of UNIPMA’s commitment to social responsibility in responding to emergency situations in the community.
The heavy rainfall over the past few days led to widespread flooding in several areas of Madiun Regency. Overflowing water from several rivers that have yet to be normalized, combined with the conversion of water absorption land into building areas, worsened the situation on the ground. As a result, many residents faced difficulties in meeting their daily needs.
One of UNIPMA's delegates who participated in this action, Mr. Amirudin Imam Nur, S.H., shared that the residents were very grateful for the aid. "They are very happy and feel cared for, even though the aid we provided is not much. We hope that activities like this can inspire young people to be more sensitive to their environment and fellow human beings," he said.
Through this tangible action, UNIPMA reaffirmed its role as a front-runner in humanitarian efforts. In addition to helping ease the burden on the residents, this initiative aimed to speed up the recovery process post-disaster. UNIPMA’s concern for the community is hoped to become an example for others to continue spreading kindness and social solidarity.
