Ombudsman RI Holds Public Lecture at Universitas PGRI Madiun
The Indonesian Ombudsman Representative for East Java Province held a public lecture at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. The event, which took place in the Integrated Laboratory, centered around the theme "Portrait of Public Services: Understanding the Roles and Functions of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia."
The lecture was attended by various prominent figures, including Dr. Jeffry Handika, M.Pd (Vice Rector IV of UNIPMA), Dr. Siska Diana Sari, S.H., M.H (Dean of the Faculty of Law, UNIPMA), Dr. Sulistya Eviningrum, S.H., M.H (Head of the Law Study Program), Sri Lestari, S.Pd., M.Pd (Head of BKH UNIPMA), and Liya Atika Anggrasari, M.Pd (Secretary of BKH UNIPMA). Representatives from each academic program, faculty members, students from the Faculty of Law, and members of student organizations such as BEM, HMPS, and UKM also participated in the event.
The public lecture was delivered by Agus Muttaqin, S.H., a representative from the Ombudsman RI of East Java Province. He provided an in-depth explanation of the Ombudsman's critical role in supervising and assessing the quality of public services in Indonesia. Agus emphasized the Ombudsman’s responsibility in addressing public complaints regarding inadequate services and offering recommendations for improvements to the concerned institutions.
Agus further elaborated that the Ombudsman operates as an independent oversight body, focusing not only on identifying shortcomings but also on proposing solutions to strengthen and enhance the quality of public services nationwide.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Jeffry Handika, M.Pd, expressed his gratitude for the collaboration between UNIPMA and the Ombudsman RI. He emphasized the importance of the lecture in deepening participants' understanding of the Ombudsman's role and the values that should be upheld in society.
“This public lecture provides not only a deeper understanding of the crucial role of the Ombudsman but also instills values that can be applied in community life,” Dr. Jeffry Handika stated.
He also noted that the event serves to bridge the academic world and state institutions, fostering constructive discussions about improving public services in Indonesia. Dr. Jeffry expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue to strengthen the partnership between UNIPMA and the Ombudsman RI, contributing to fairer and higher-quality public services.
The lecture was well-received by participants, who gained valuable insights into their rights in accessing public services and effective ways to monitor service quality. This event is expected to mark the beginning of further collaborations between UNIPMA and the Ombudsman RI to promote better and more responsive public services tailored to the needs of society.
