FH UNIPMA Holds International Guest Lecture, Highlights Psychological Dimensions in Legal Practice
Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) continues to expand the academic horizons of its students. Through the Law Study Program of the Faculty of Law (FH), UNIPMA successfully organized an International Guest Lecture with the topic: “Psychology Behind the Law: Exploring Human Behavior in Legal Practice.”
The event which took place last Monday (17/11) in Room A.205–A.206 Campus 1 UNIPMA specifically discussed the dynamics of modern law enforcement from the perspective of human behavior. UNIPMA presented an international academic, Mary Angelie S. Cabacungan, MAEd, a lecturer from Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), Philippines, as the main resource person.
This Guest Lecture became an important forum for students to unravel the common thread between psychology and daily legal practice. In her presentation, Cabacungan explained comprehensively how various internal human factors, ranging from cognitive, social, to emotional aspects, can significantly influence a person's actions.
Head of the Law Study Program Dr. Sulistya Eviningrum, S.H., M.H., in her interview stated that understanding legal psychology is now an increasingly unavoidable competence for future legal practitioners.
“This Guest Lecture gives a golden opportunity for students to learn directly from experienced experts. Understanding psychology is very helpful in analyzing human behavior, decision-making processes, as well as factors influencing the birth of legal decisions,” said Dr. Sulistya Eviningrum, S.H., M.H., last Tuesday (18/11).
She added, through this academic discussion, students can hone their case analysis skills. The goal is so that they are able to provide legal considerations that are not only procedurally effective, but also more humanist and broad-perspectived.
Besides the international speaker, this activity was also strengthened by the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Law UNIPMA, Dr. Siska Diana Sari, S.H., M.H., along with other FH lecturers, Nizam Zakka Arrizal, S.H., M.Kn., and Asa Barno Happy Ramadhany, S.H., M.H. The presence of these lecturers provided material reinforcement relevant to the legal context in Indonesia, while opening a more open dialogue space.
Student enthusiasm was clearly visible from the many questions asked. The lively discussion focused on the implementation of psychology in investigation techniques, legal negotiation strategies, to methods of evidence analysis in the field.
Through this international guest lecture, UNIPMA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening global academic networks. This step also encourages law students to be increasingly open to cross-border legal dynamics and ready to adapt best practices for the development of advanced law in Indonesia.
