Rector of UNIPMA Monitors Student KKN Locations for group 63

The low literacy skills of students, especially in elementary schools, including the problem of low children's reading levels, is a problem faced by group 63 KKN students who are located in Krebet Village, Pilangkenceng District, Madiun Regency.

Accompanied by field supervisor (DPL) Dwi Nila Andriani, S.Pd., M.Pd. the group of 17 students chaired by Muhammad Rafi Ardhiansyah took the initiative to create a reading corner. Due to space limitations, they finally used the space that functioned as an isolation room during Covid-19, in the hands of KKN students, the space was transformed into a mini library and reading corner.

This is done to bring books closer to children to stimulate interest in reading for children/students at SDN Krebet 01, as well as to assist teachers in preparing their students for future school exams.

To maximize the creation of Reading Corners, KKN students open book donations. The UNIPMA Madiun Library also donated various books. The UNIPMA history education study program and the general public also supported this activity by sending books worth reading.

Interestingly, the inauguration of the reading corner at SDN Krebet 01 was inaugurated directly by the Chancellor of UNIPMA, Dr. Supri Wahyudi Utomo, M.Pd. accompanied by the head of KKN, DPL, Principal of SDN Krebet 01, witnessed by all KKN students, as well as teachers and students of SDN Krebet 01 on Saturday (12/2/2023).

The Chancellor of UNIPMA supports this Reading Corner KKN work program by contributing directly. He hopes that the existence of a reading corner at SDN Krebet 01 will make students more fond of reading.

"Hopefully the students of SDN Krebet 01 will enjoy reading more, and of course, this reading corner will also reduce children's use of gadgets," said Supri, Chancellor of UNIPMA.

The Principal of SDN Krebet 01, Untari, S.Pd, expressed the same hope. He hopes that the reading corner activities will not stop here.

"I hope that this activity will continue and that children will continue to be consistent in their love of reading," he said.

Teachers and students at SDN Krebet 01 welcomed the reading corner with great enthusiasm. This enthusiasm can be seen in how the students look at and read the books in the reading corner. Meanwhile, the teachers thanked the students from the UNIPMA Madiun Group 63 Community Service Team for awakening an interest in reading and a desire to learn new things among students at SDN Krebet 01.
