Oyster Mushroom Entrepreneur Accompanying UNIPMA Biology Education Students in Entrepreneurship 

Oyster Mushroom Cultivation has the potential to be developed as an independent entrepreneurial alternative. The UNIPMA Biology Education study program seized this opportunity as one of the student entrepreneurship development activities. Entrepreneurship development for students is a supporter of achieving the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) of tertiary institutions in preparing graduates who are capable of entrepreneurship. Student entrepreneurship development activities in the Biology Education study program UNIPMA are supported by the Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM) which is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2022.

The Biology Education study program on 10-15 December 2022 will hold training and assistance for oyster mushroom cultivation. This activity presented practitioner Mr. Baratha, a successful oyster mushroom entrepreneur from Magetan. Baratha is the owner of Thani Mushroom Magetan which is engaged in baglog production, oyster mushroom cultivation and development of processed oyster mushrooms. The training was carried out by providing material, baglog production practices, how to cultivate oyster mushrooms, how to process oyster mushrooms into culinary preparations and business management. "The main keywords in starting an entrepreneur are focus and commitment," said Baratha as the speaker. In addition, Baratha also revealed that the oyster mushroom business is currently very potential to be developed, market demand is stable and tends to increase. Students can build an oyster mushroom business and use collaborative strategies with Thani Mushroom Magetan.

In addition to material presentation, students were also asked to practice directly making mushroom baglogs. Baratha also conveyed an effective baglog formulation so that oyster mushrooms can grow well. Students are very enthusiastic in following the practice and produce their own baglog. "It's very exciting and interesting, making baglogs is not as difficult as one might imagine, Pak Baratha explained clearly and equipped with tricks and tips for making good baglogs," said Tri Rahayu, a semester 7 student. The lecturer in the biology education study program also accompanied students in making baglogs. "The lecturer team is ready to assist and become a facilitator in developing student businesses, especially in designing and reporting business results," said Dr. W. Linda Yuhanna as accompanying lecturer.

This activity will continue in the form of mentoring students who want to become entrepreneurs in the field of oyster mushrooms. "I hope, after this training, there will be students who are interested in developing an oyster mushroom business, the biology education study program will help students with business capital who want to become entrepreneurs." said Joko Widiyanto.
