Structuring the school environment to become a Green School is an effort to create a beautiful, cool, clean and healthy school atmosphere that supports the process of implementing teaching and learning activities. A conducive school environment will contribute to the realization of a quality lifestyle which is currently very much needed in increasing educational productivity. One of the efforts to form the character of caring for the environment in Madiun Cendekia Vocational High School students, on Thursday (22/12/2022) a training was held on making Eco-enzymes from the lecturers of the Chemical Engineering Study Program, University of PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) to class X students of SMK Cendekia Madiun .

The training on making eco-enzymes which was held at the Organic Chemistry Laboratory of the UNIPMA Chemical Engineering Study Program was one of the efforts made to support Cendekia Madiun Vocational High School as an environmentally sound school where school members apply the values ​​of love, care and responsibility for the school environment (Green Ethical).

The Eco-enzyme production training was carried out by lecturers from the Chemical Engineering Study Program, Mrs. Nasrul Rofiah Hidayati, ST., M.Pd and Mrs. Sri Wahyuningsih, M.Sc. The training begins with instilling the important values ​​of being an individual who has a Green Ethical character to students, and continues with soft skills training, namely by providing Skills to students on how to recycle organic waste in the school environment into useful materials, namely by processing them into Eco-enzymes. Eco-enzyme is a solution of complex organic substances produced from the fermentation process of organic residues, sugar and water. This Eco enzyme liquid is dark brown in color and has a sour/fresh aroma. This liquid is very, very easy to produce independently.

The Trainer Team explained the many uses of this Eco-enzyme, including: 1) Floor cleaner, very effective for cleaning house floors. 2) Disinfectant, which can be used as an antibacterial, is a major need in the post-pandemic era as it is today, where a formula is needed that can eradicate pathogenic microorganisms without having to disrupt the body's protective barrier microorganism ecosystem. 3) Insecticide, used to eradicate insects (by mixing enzymes with water and used in the form of a spray). 4) Cleaning liquid in ditches, especially small ditches as sewers for dirty water and many other eco-enzyme uses.

Sri Wahyuningsih said that this eco-enzyme is very easy to make at school or at home. The benefits of Eco enzymes are also very diverse for oneself, the surrounding environment and ecosystem sustainability. This activity was continued with the practice of making Eco enzymes which was guided by Mrs. Nasrul with the Team and was attended by all participants and accompanying teachers. The class X students of Cendekia Vocational High School were very enthusiastic about participating in this training activity, this can be seen from the fact that they took part in the training activities from start to finish well and the activities took place interactively. It is hoped that this activity can awaken the spirit of love for the environment from Madiun Cendekia Vocational High School students.
