Working with Disabilities - Build an Assisted Village with PHP2D KWU Cendekia UKM

In order to foster a sense of care and contribution of students to the community in order to build active, independent, entrepreneurial, and prosperous fostered villages, UKM KWU Cendekia Universitas PGRI Madiun is holding a PHP2D (Holistic Village Development and Empowerment Program) activity which has been implemented since early September 2020 and will take place until next November. Through this program of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, village communities are expected to be able to discover and develop existing potentials to become real activities or develop activities that have been initiated by the community to be more developed and useful so that they can realize national security in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia.

PHP2D which was implemented in Karangpatihan Village, Balong District, Ponorogo focused on empowering and providing skills in making handicrafts to local residents. "Especially residents with mental disabilities such as mentally disabled people and the manager of Rumah Harapan which is a place for training during the activity," said Moh. Tahjudin Azzam Zami, Chief Executive of the PHP2D UKM KWU Cendekia UNIPMA.

Limitations are not an excuse for not being able to work. Every human being will be able to be creative in their respective capacities. As Azzam has stated, with PHP2D, people with disabilities can still work. Even in its implementation, Azam and the team were welcomed by the people of Karangpatihan Village, especially training participants. "Luckily, some residents who are willing to be companions are very enthusiastic to be trained. That way, from a companion can be a "bridge" for us to transfer skills to mentally disabled people. The mentally retarded community is very enthusiastic, we can see from the frequency of attending this training, "said Azzam.
