UNIPMA Student Wins Best Presenter Award at International Psychology Conference in the Philippines

UNIPMA— A remarkable achievement was made by a student of Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA), who successfully won the Best Presenter award at the 1st International Psychology Research Conference on Mental Health (PResCon 2026). This international conference was organized by Tarlac State University (TSU), the Philippines, in a hybrid format on Thursday (October 22).

The cross-border academic event, held at the CASS Theater Room at TSU and connected via Zoom Meeting, carried the theme “Lived Experiences Heard, Real Voices, Real Change: Understanding Mental Health Across the Lifespan”. According to a report by Rida Fahas, M.Pd., this global forum was attended by approximately 350 participants from various institutions.

“Coincidentally, UNIPMA students served as presenters at the event and won,” added Rida Fahas, M.Pd., in her report.

At the conference, the UNIPMA student delegation presented two in-depth psychology research topics. The first team, consisting of Cheril Lunetta Salsabila and Anggara Bayu Rizky, presented a study entitled “Adolescent Identity Crisis From the Perspective of Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory and Marcia’s Identity Statuses”, which examined adolescent identity crises based on psychosocial theory.

Meanwhile, the second team, comprising Risma Cahya Agustina and Latifah Anggia Fitriani, presented research entitled “Quarter-Life Crisis Among Emerging Adults: Mental Health, Well-Being and Counseling Needs”. This study highlighted the pressures faced during early adulthood, ranging from education and careers to social relationships and financial conditions, which often affect psychological well-being when expectations do not align with reality.

In her statement, Risma Cahya Agustina, one of the UNIPMA student delegates, emphasized the importance of raising mental health awareness among young people. “This achievement serves as recognition that concern for the mental health of younger generations can be voiced on the global stage,” said Risma.

UNIPMA Head of International Affairs, Dr. Brigitta Septarini Rahmasari, M.Pd., expressed her appreciation for the students’ outstanding achievement. “This active participation represents a tangible contribution by higher education institutions to the global academic arena,” she said.

This remarkable achievement also reflects the practical implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi), encompassing education, research, and community service through proposed solutions to psychological issues.

Furthermore, the participation of the UNIPMA delegation in this global forum aligns with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through cross-border academic collaboration.

Through their participation in PResCon 2026, UNIPMA students not only broadened their international academic perspectives but also introduced research on local psychological issues relevant to the dynamics of broader society.
