Introducing Financial Literacy, Himadiksi UNIPMA Equips SMAN 1 Kawedanan Students with Basic Accounting Knowledge
UNIPMA — Financial literacy is not only about managing money but also requires an understanding of financial records and financial conditions. This knowledge was introduced by the Student Association of Accounting Education (Himadiksi) at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) to students of SMAN 1 Kawedanan, Magetan, through basic accounting lessons.
The educational activity took place on Monday (24/8) as part of the Financial Literacy Go To School program. Students were introduced to the Basic Accounting Equation through interactive learning, followed by a quiz using Quizizz.
Chairperson of Himadiksi UNIPMA, Angelina Bertha Aprilya Putri Sabrina, said the initiative was aimed at helping students gain a basic understanding of financial literacy and accounting concepts that are relevant to everyday life.
"This program aims to provide students with a basic understanding of financial literacy and accounting," Angelina said.
The Basic Accounting Equation was the main topic presented by Melinda, Ananda, and Erina. The material was delivered interactively, allowing students not only to receive explanations but also to test their understanding through a quiz.
Following the accounting lesson, students were introduced to the Accounting Education Study Program at UNIPMA by Dr. Nur Wahyuning Sulistyowati, S.E., M.Pd. The session continued with a question-and-answer discussion between the students and the speakers.
SMAN 1 Kawedanan was selected as one of the program’s target schools as part of the effort to provide students with additional knowledge about financial literacy and basic accounting.
For Himadiksi, the initiative is also part of an effort to expand financial literacy education into school environments. The program is not limited to one school and is planned to continue at other schools.
"The program will be carried out continuously at other schools," Angelina added.
SMAN 1 Kawedanan responded positively to the activity. The school’s coordinating teacher, Heri Wahyuningsih, S.Pd., welcomed the financial literacy education provided to the students.
The activity was accompanied by Dr. Nur Wahyuning Sulistyowati, S.E., M.Pd. In addition to introducing basic accounting concepts, the program also provided students with information about the Accounting Education Study Program at UNIPMA.
Angelina hopes the educational initiative will provide students with useful knowledge for understanding financial matters and basic accounting concepts.
"We hope this activity can provide students with new and useful knowledge, particularly in understanding financial literacy and basic accounting concepts," she concluded.
