UNIPMA – Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) continues to encourage students to take an active role in the community through opportunities to develop their talents, arts, and creativity. This was demonstrated by the participation of students from the Tjandra Kirana Dance Student Activity Unit (UKM Seni Tari Tjandra Kirana) in the Madiun Menari event at Pahlawan Street Center (PSC), Madiun City, on Saturday (August 29).

Nine students from several study programs performed as part of the event. They not only represented the university but also became part of a cultural activity that brought students and the community together directly.

The participating students came from diverse academic backgrounds: Hilwah Diny Gussita and Kurnia Nanda Septi Pratama from the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI); Nadia Octaviani Hermawan, Jesnita Salsa Nova Milani, Alrisma Dian Florea Lely Ciana, Anisa Eka Prasetyawati, and Nadia Larasti Nugroho from the Management Study Program; and two other students, Selma Putri Yuantika and Dea Ayu, from the Physics Study Program.

UNIPMA Dance Student Activity Unit advisor Sesaria Prima Yudhaningtyas, S.Pd., M.Pd., said that students’ participation in regional activities is part of a learning process that takes place beyond the classroom.

“Through the arts, students learn to interact, educate, and at the same time make a positive impact on the community,” said Sesaria Prima Yudhaningtyas, S.Pd., M.Pd.

According to her, participation in community activities is also one form of implementing the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi), particularly community service.

Before participating in Madiun Menari, the participants took part in joint rehearsals at Pahlawan Business Center (PBC). The rehearsals involved participants from regional government organizations (OPD), regionally owned enterprises (BUMD), state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and other groups according to the predetermined schedule.

One of the members of the dance team, Anisa, said that the rehearsal process was an important part of preparing for the performance in a public space.

“Intensive rehearsals were carried out to ensure that every movement was delivered with precision,” said Anisa.

Performing in a public space also provided students with a new experience, as they interacted directly with people of various ages and backgrounds.

Students’ involvement in arts and cultural activities also demonstrates how a university can serve as a space for students to grow according to their diverse interests and abilities.

At UNIPMA, student development does not stop at academic activities but also extends to experience, creativity, organizational involvement, and contributions to the community.

These opportunities are open to students from various study programs to develop their respective potential. Support for student activities is part of UNIPMA’s efforts to build an educational environment that gives students opportunities to grow through the fields they are passionate about.

At the same time, UNIPMA is opening opportunities for prospective new students to become part of this academic environment and student development ecosystem. Registration for Regular and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programs for the 2026/2027 Academic Year is now officially open.
