Ampibi Membumi, UNIPMA Biology Education Study Program Educates Residents on Processing Rice Husks into Eco-Friendly Briquettes
The Biology Education Study Program of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA), through the Student Association of the Study Program (Ampibi), held an activity titled “Ampibi Membumi” at the residence of the Head of RT 15/RW 04, Mr. Sujatno, in Budug Hamlet, Tawangrejo Village, Takeran District, Magetan Regency, on Sunday (24/5).
The activity, which carried the theme “Utilization of Rice Husks as Charcoal Briquettes in Supporting Sustainable Environment,” aimed to increase public awareness in utilizing agricultural waste into useful and environmentally friendly products.
Ampibi Membumi 2026 is a form of community service focused on environmental education. During the activity, students delivered materials, educational sessions, and practical demonstrations on making charcoal briquettes from rice husks as an alternative eco-friendly fuel.
The Head of the Biology Education Study Program at UNIPMA, Nurul Kusuma Dewi, S.Si., M.Sc., also accompanied the activity alongside students and local residents. Uswatul Hasanah, as the chief organizer, stated in an interview that the program was designed to provide the community with an understanding of utilizing rice husk waste so that it could have practical value while supporting environmental sustainability.
“Ampibi Membumi 2026 aims to educate the public on the utilization of rice husk waste into charcoal briquettes as an effort to protect and support environmental sustainability,” said Uswatul on Tuesday (26/5).
She added that utilizing rice husks as charcoal briquettes is expected to help reduce agricultural waste while increasing public awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental sustainability.
During the activity, Ananda Sabrina Putri Susilo served as the speaker, presenting material titled “Utilization of Rice Husks into Eco-Friendly Briquettes.” Participants not only received theoretical explanations but also direct practice in processing rice husks into charcoal briquettes.
The program is also aligned with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Kampus Berdampak Program initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek). The program is intended to provide learning experiences that benefit both students and the community.
Through this activity, the organizers hope that the community will be able to utilize rice husk waste optimally, increase environmental awareness, and create simple innovations that are beneficial for daily life and future environmental sustainability.
