The visit of UNIPMAs Electrical Engineering Education Study Programme to PT Semen Indonesia: A Form of Synergy between Academics and Industry

The Electrical Engineering Education Study Program at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) organized an industrial visit to PT. Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) Tuban Plant. This event marked an important milestone in strengthening the synergy between academia and industry while providing students with practical insights into the application of electrical engineering knowledge in the professional world.

The visit, held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, was attended by several accompanying lecturers, including Dr. Nurulita Imansari, M.Pd. (Head of the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program at UNIPMA), Ms. Umi Kholifah, M.Pd., Mr. Risky Dwi Wisesa, S.Pd., and Mr. Dodik Krisdiyanto, S.Pd., who served as assistant lecturers.

During the visit, students participated in a range of activities, such as a company profile presentation, a factory facility tour, discussions about job and internship opportunities, and a Q&A session with representatives from PT. Semen Indonesia. These activities offered students a tangible understanding of how the theories learned in campus classrooms are applied in industrial settings.

Arif Ferdiansyah, the event's coordinator, stated that the visit aimed to introduce students to the industrial environment, understand the needs and challenges of the workforce, and explore opportunities for collaboration in more applied educational programs. "We hope this visit prepares students for the professional world and helps them develop competencies aligned with industry demands," said Arif on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

Furthermore, the visit is part of efforts to support the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The Electrical Engineering Education Study Program at UNIPMA views this event as a starting point for strengthening collaboration with PT. Semen Indonesia, particularly in programs like internships, guest lectures, and joint research.

Dr. Nurulita Imansari, M.Pd., emphasized the importance of such collaboration in enhancing the relevance of the curriculum to workforce needs. "This activity is a tangible manifestation of our commitment to bridging the gap between campus theory and field practice. We hope that collaboration with industry can enhance the quality of graduates, making them more competitive and job-ready," said Dr. Nurulita.

This visit not only served as a learning opportunity for students but also represented a concrete step toward fostering stronger ties between UNIPMA's Electrical Engineering Education Study Program and the industry. With hopes for sustained collaboration, the initiative is expected to improve education quality through mutually beneficial partnerships.

Through initiatives like this, the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program at UNIPMA continues to demonstrate its commitment to producing outstanding graduates aligned with the demands of the workforce, while simultaneously strengthening the role of higher education in building synergy with industry.
