Public Lecture with Cristina Virginia B. Jimmy, MSCJE, and Shirley Pascual Ayeo-EO from NUEST Philippines 

The Faculty Economics and Business, consisting the Diploma Program in Tax Management, Accounting, and Management, as well as the Faculty  Teacher Training and Education, comprising Economic Education and Accounting Education, organized a public lecture titled "Economic Crimes In The Business Environment."

The public lecture featured two expert speakers from Nueva Ecija University Science and Technology (NEUST) Philippines. The speakers were Cristina Virginia B. Jimmy, MSCJE, and Shirley Pascual Ayeo-EO. The event was attended by 90 participants from two faculties, consisting of five related study programs at Universitas PGRI Madiun.

Held in the Integrated Lab on Saturday, May 4, 2024, the event was opened by a speech from the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Elva Nuraini, S.E., M.Si. She emphasized that the public lecture is a form of collaboration between UNIPMA and NEUST in the fields of education and research. The collaboration aims to exchange cultures, enhance educational progress, and develop research. Moreover, the collaboration is expected to improve the quality of institutions between UNIPMA and NEUST.

"This public lecture is expected to enhance and introduce the latest developments in education, knowledge, and research among partner universities," said Dr. Elva Nuraini, S.E., M.Si in her speech.

During the event, Shirley Pascual Ayeo-EO delivered a presentation introducing "Business Ethics Criminological Perspective," which means examining business behavior within the legal, moral, and social framework. Following that, Cristina Virginia B. Jimmy, MSCJE, continued with a discussion on "Economic Crimes in The Business Environment," covering various actions that violate laws or ethics related to economic activities.

With two foreign speakers present, both English and Indonesian languages were used. Participants seemed to enjoy the presentations. The event became more lively, marked by group photos and the revelation that the speakers enjoyed Soto Ayam while living in Indonesia.

After the public lecture session, a Forum Group Discussion was held to discuss research collaboration between NEUST and five study programs from UNIPMA, including Management, Accounting, Diploma Program in Tax Management, Accounting Education, and Economic Education. In this forum, topics for research and timelines for research completion between both parties were agreed upon.

The aim is to enhance practical understanding in the involved fields and produce findings that can significantly contribute to the development of knowledge and practices in society.
