UNIPMA BK Study Program Conducts KKL Visits at Menur Mental Hospital, Surabaya
Students from the Guidance and Counseling Study Program (BK) Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) held a Field Work Lecture (KKL) visit at Menur Mental Hospital, Surabaya. This event was held to increase understanding of the Mental Health subject.
This KKL activity was attended by around 150 students from the BK Study Program guided by the Head of RSJ Menur Surabaya, Mr. Iskandar and UNIPMA BK Lecturer, Dr. Asroful Kadafi, M.Pd. KKL participants received psychological material from the Menur Mental Hospital and had the opportunity to communicate with the hospital and patients who had been declared almost cured.
During this visit, students were allowed to ask questions about patients being treated at Menur Mental Hospital, Surabaya, as well as the services of nursing staff. This is considered important to exchange knowledge in dealing with problems when carrying out the profession as a counsellor.
The Chief Executive of the Activity, Aini Meidi Rahmawati, reported that this activity was part of the real lecture program required for Counseling Guidance students. “This KKL activity is knowledge obtained directly from experts. "So it is hoped that after this KKL, the students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program will not only focus on the academic field but will also have to care about the social domain as well," Aini said. Menur Mental Hospital Surabaya welcomes this activity and hopes to be able to educate other universities so they can visit and share experiences. Both parties agreed that the experience and knowledge gained from KKL activities could be useful in preparing BK UNIPMA students to become smart, reliable professionals in the field of guidance and counselling.
"This visit to the UNIPMA Counseling Guidance Study Program KKL is the first time, usually those who come are practical students from the Faculty of Health only." Close Mr Iskandar.
