UNIPMA — The Faculty of Law (FH) of Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA), in collaboration with the College of Criminology at Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), Philippines, conducted an International Community Service program at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Madiun (SMA Muhasa) on Friday, October 30.
Under the theme “Cyber Crime Laws and Environmental Laws,” this cross-border collaboration provided approximately 60 students and 15 teachers with insights into digital law and environmental conservation, delivered directly by international academics.
The activity, held at the SMA Muhasa Auditorium, was led by FH UNIPMA Dean Dr. Siska Diana Sari, S.H., M.H., accompanied by Study Program Head Dr. Sulistya Eviningrum, S.H., M.H., as well as faculty members and students. Meanwhile, the NEUST Philippines delegation consisted of two lecturers from the College of Criminology, Floralyn Laconsay D. and Pershalyn M. Almerol, along with three of their students: Micah Munsayac, Steph Dela Cruz, and Kryzia Mica Barleso.
The Principal of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Madiun, Ust. Hafidzuddin, S.Pd.I., warmly welcomed this global collaboration, which extended its reach to the secondary education sector. He expressed his appreciation for the presence of international academics, whose participation brought new perspectives to the school environment. “Representatives from UNIPMA also delivered welcoming remarks before the activity proceeded to the main sessions,” Ust. Hafidzuddin stated.
According to a report submitted by Rida Fahas, M.Pd., to the Public Relations Team, the activity at the SMA Muhasa Auditorium featured presentations and interactive discussions. Pershalyn M. Almerol, together with students from the NEUST College of Criminology, led the sessions.
“Through this activity, students and teachers gained insights into cybercrime law and environmental law. The materials were delivered by NEUST academics together with students from the College of Criminology, allowing participants to gain exposure to learning perspectives from a higher education institution in the Philippines,” she explained.
The cybercrime law presentation focused on introducing legal issues that frequently arise from activities in the digital space. Meanwhile, the environmental law session highlighted the importance of regulations in preserving and protecting the surrounding ecosystem.
Both topics successfully sparked participants’ enthusiasm through discussions closely related to their everyday experiences.
Furthermore, this international collaboration represents not only a tangible implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi), particularly in community service, but also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
These contributions include SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Through this collaboration, FH UNIPMA and NEUST Philippines have successfully expanded the scope of their cross-border academic partnership while providing valuable learning experiences for secondary school students to develop an early understanding of global legal issues.
