Faculty of Law UNIPMA Holds Interactive Talkshow, Encourages Student Independence in the Society 5.0 Era

UNIPMA — Developing law students' capabilities requires more than mastering theories and regulations. The ability to reason through legal issues, build personal competencies, and manage emotional well-being is also essential for navigating the academic and professional world in the Society 5.0 era.

This was the focus of an interactive talkshow held by the Faculty of Law at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA). The event, titled “Capacity Building to Encourage the Independence of Law Students to Become Intellectually and Emotionally Intelligent in the Society 5.0 Era,” was held at Waroeng Garasi Madiun on Saturday (12/9), yesterday.

Initiated by the Student Association of the Law Study Program (HMPS Yuris) and the Faculty of Law Student Association (HMFH), the event provided learning sessions through interactive discussions and sharing sessions. A total of 68 participants took part in the program, which was part of the Faculty of Law's efforts to improve student development.

Event chairperson Septian Ali Islamudin said the program was designed to foster student independence from the beginning of their university studies, particularly in developing both intellectual and emotional abilities.

“The activity was designed to encourage law students to become independent, not only intellectually but also emotionally,” he said.

The program covered three main areas. Dr. Sulistya Eviningrum, S.H., M.H., discussed Basic Legal Reasoning as a foundation for students to analyze legal issues logically.

R. Indra Priangkasa, S.H., M.H., presented strategies for learning and building a personal brand in the legal field. Meanwhile, Ananta Prabowo, S.Psi., discussed emotional intelligence, mental health awareness, and approaches to managing mental health concerns.

According to Septian, the three topics complement students' needs throughout their legal education. Legal reasoning was combined with personal development and emotional awareness to better prepare students for academic and social challenges.

“Students were equipped with basic legal reasoning to develop intellectual intelligence, as well as knowledge about mental health to strengthen emotional intelligence,” Septian added.

Participants included members of HMPS Yuris, HMFH, and students from the 2026 cohort of the Law Study Program. For the Faculty of Law at UNIPMA, the program was part of an effort to prepare students to adapt to change and develop the skills needed in professional environments.

The event was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Law at UNIPMA, Dr. Siska Dianasari, S.H., M.H., along with the faculty leadership, Head of the Law Study Program Dr. Sulistya Eviningrum, S.H., M.H., and faculty members.

Septian hopes the program will provide a foundation for students to become more independent and competitive throughout their studies and as they enter society.

“We hope Yuris students become more independent, competitive, and able to maintain a balance between intellectual and emotional intelligence,” he concluded.
