FT UNIPMA PKKMB, Dean Encourages New Students to Map Their Potential from an Early Stage

UNIPMA — A total of 133 new students of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) are being encouraged to identify their potential and determine areas for self-development from the beginning of their university journey. The introduction to the campus academic environment is intended to encourage students to adapt to the higher education environment, understand academic systems and culture, and prepare themselves to actively, independently, and responsibly participate in the learning process.

The activity also aims to build students’ motivation, character, and readiness to develop both academic and non-academic competencies in order to achieve accomplishments and success throughout their education.

This was conveyed during the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at FT UNIPMA, held at the Integrated Laboratory on Thursday (10/9). Participants came from the Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Information Systems study programs.

Dean of FT UNIPMA Nasrul Rofiah Hidayati, S.T., M.Pd., said PKKMB serves as an initial stage for students to understand the faculty’s development direction while adapting to academic life in higher education. “PKKMB is a very crucial initial gateway for new students to align their perspectives with the institution’s grand aspirations,” she said.

According to Nasrul Rofiah Hidayati, S.T., M.Pd., the faculty’s vision and mission are not introduced merely as academic material that students need to memorize. These values are introduced through academic programs, lecturers’ research and community service activities, as well as students’ achievements, providing an overview of opportunities that can be developed throughout their education.

FT UNIPMA’s vision for 2033 is to become a nationally outstanding center for engineering education while producing graduates who are intelligent, competitive through technology, and capable of entrepreneurship.

To support this direction, students were also introduced to an adaptive learning ecosystem, as well as the importance of strengthening character and ethics while in the campus environment.

Beyond academics, PKKMB also introduced various student organizations as platforms for developing interests, organizational skills, and collaboration. These organizations include DEPTICS for Informatics Engineering, MASIF for Information Systems, HIMATEKA for Chemical Engineering, KMTI for Industrial Engineering, and ELECTRA for Electrical Engineering.

Nasrul Rofiah Hidayati, S.T., M.Pd., encouraged new students to map out their interests from an early stage so they can determine the areas they wish to develop, both academically and non-academically.

“Students are expected to quickly adapt to the academic environment as adaptive and active individuals, achieve accomplishments and collaborate, and begin mapping their interests from an early stage, both in academic and non-academic fields,” she concluded.

In addition to developing their competencies, students were also reminded to maintain integrity by upholding ethics and morality.
